Anybody from Italy?

Hi guys!!,
is there anybody with a Generation 6 Camaro here writing from Italy, as I am?

I've set up a Facebook page for the Italian Camaro owners and enthusiasts.. you're more than welcome!!

Here it is:

Hi Eos,

How's the car doing? Everything like you expected to be? Enough power, no issues with the A8, lots of attention?

I'm just curious for your impressions :thumb:

Thank you very much for asking me!!
Well.. I'm quite satisfied with my Camaro Turbo and really love it! The engine is powerful enough for the Italian roads and is not drinking too much indeed: at the moment it's providing an average of 10 km/L without being too focused on economy driving or going slow.
The 8-speed automatic transmission is quite smooth and I don't feel like the car would need something different, as a dual-clutch for example. Very positive.

Bad things I really don't like are the engine sound (I really can't stand the note of the exhaust) and some minor design faults, as the missing front sensors and the not-so-ergonomic safety belts mounting points: they tend to be giving issues to passengers willing to take place on the rear seats (and the metal bracket can accidentally fall against the body of the car).

That said, I would buy the car again if I could: I'm quite happy with it and it's not feeling "gummy" at all when driven on our narrow and curvy roads.

It's a real eye-catcher: lots of people turn their heads and some of the most passionate even show a proud thumb-up and big smiles!! It is funny, but I'm starting getting used to it now.

The first time I washed it by hand, two police patrols stopped by and came in the washing lot. They looked and asked a lot of questions about the car (price, engine power output, etc.).. makes me proud of my Camaro, even if it's not a supercar.

I hope I did give an idea.. :happy0180:

Thanks for the review Eos it gives me a bit of reassurance I'll like it. (test drove the Cadillac ATS coupe with the 2 liter and enjoyed it)
Yeah, the exhaust sound, that's something I'll miss from my RAM as well as the front park sensors. Surprised they didn't add that. I've been looking around and you could buy a license plate frame with a camera which connects wireless to your phone. Maybe that's a option. Or there are two options to add a front camera to the display, but VERY expensive :(

Good to have the carabinieri on your side !
3-4 months of waiting pff

Hi Nick!,
I've found a different possibility for the front parking sensors (even if it's so silly that GM hasn't put a front parking system on this car)..

This provider (Proxel) sells a special metallic sensor that does NOT need the bumper to have holes for the sensors, so that you can't see anything from the outside of the car. I see that they support Camaro, too. The only bad thing I don't like is that you need to remove the whole front of the car in order to put the sensor on the backface of the plastic bumper.

See it here:

The Camaro 6th Generation suggested sensor positioning (see the colored line):

Hi Eos,

After 7600km the transmission (A8) start to shake and vibrate. I went to the dealer, and GM gave permission to replace the whole transmission!

Be aware of any vibration in your transmission, it seems to be a structural problem for the Camaro.

Regards,

Lucas.

My Camaro Turbo only has 2300 km on the clock at the moment.. and sounds like it's working perfectly. I'm quite used to sports cars, so I'll surely "monitor" any rattle or weird vibration coming from the transmission..

Thanks for sharing!
