New oil from Mobil 1 made for the LT1 and LT4

There was some discussion about this in another thread but figured i'd make a new post about it so more people could see it. It looks like the 2019 Corvettes are being filled with this new 0W-40 oil from the factory and it'll be the new recommended oil from now on for it. Looks like they're switching over to it for better wear protection and you'll be able to street and track with it without switching oils. I attached a PDF with all the info.

Wonder if the 2019 Camaro's will come with this oil or if GM will make this the recommended oil for them. I might switch over to it once it becomes more widely available later this year.

Also says it's the recommended oil for these engines (Corvette, Camaro & CTS-V).

looks like Q3 2018, but it says you can get it through your chevy dealer now.

p.s. what suspension setup are you running? I like the stance you have in the pic.

Thanks for sharing. I will definitely be switching to this. I like the fact it is a 40 weight plus the cold start and Wear protection caught my attention.

I called my dealer - they don't have it.

Anyone talked to a dealer who can do an oil change right now with the new oil?

Very cool. It looks to be a slightly more emissions friendly version of their “European” formula 0W-40, which is what I use in a lot of cars (including the Camaro, all the cars I’ve tracked and our $h!t box Lemons cars). It’s a good off-the-shelf oil. I just wish the NOVAK was published, as that’s really important to DI engines. If you run a good catch can system, not as much.

Of course, I just stocked up on the Valvoline Syn Power 5-40 for this coming summer. Oh well, looks like I won't switch over until fall.

This new oil sounds great. I wonder if they'll sell new Oil Caps for us to swap out under the hood to show the new recommendation.
