Who is the "best" zl1 builder/shop in the nation?
Was just thinking about this, because in the RS3/TTRS community, IROZ motorsports is the go-to for engine builds/power on that platform. There are tons of others in the game who are probably perfectly fine, too, but IROZ gets the most credit. Is there a go-to shop for ZL1s? If not, who are among the best?

Every single builder/tuner, and I mean every single one, has grenaded an engine at some point. There is no best. How would that even be determined? An underground Kumite where they fight to the death? A no holds barred drag race or road race? Who has the biggest bank account? https://gymtalk.com/wp-content/uploa...2-1024x576.jpg |
IROZ is exactly a 2 minute walk from my office. lol

Vengeance Racing in Georgia

There is no best with V8 small blocks because they are not that hard to work on. So there are more competent shops out there unlike those complicated dohc small displacement engines from Audi and BMW.
If you are out west...Cordes Performance, LMR, BRC...etc Out east RPM, CSP, Vengeance racing(more south then east), Pray Performance Mid West, GPI, Katech, LPE |
There is no best. How could you quantify that? At best there are a number of shops that have a proven track record of building cars to their customer’s satisfaction with consistent quality, knowledge and customer service. There’s more than one. I have been a customer of Vengeance Racing since 2006. They are clearly, in my experience, in the top tier of builders. The mild build on my ZLE has never had a hiccup in 15,000 miles.

By "best" I just meant is there one shop that most camaro guys will mention when they're tossing around the idea of building their motors and making significantly more power. For the daza motors, it's IROZ, even though many do go with other builders. I've heard of BRC, Vengeance, and LMR. Until recently, there was a guy out here named Roy Wragth who had a nice zl1, but he moved his shop to Texas.

Only 2-3 of the aforementioned shops provide modified GM engines to customers racing in events sanctioned by Trans Am or IMSA - because these same customers want to win races. You know who they are. Experience is key. I think engine builds from a shop that has customers that race often - with success - make the most sense. Better durability. Fewer f— up’s.

You mentioned some good choices. I’m a 10 year Vengeance customer across two cars and will naturally recommend them first. I know Roy from Wragth Motorsports and Ryne from BRC. Both are great guys and Ryne is a solid tuner. |
