For those looking for another tire competitor in the 200TW selection, I just received the 315/30/18 (square setup) and the 305/30/19 and 315/30/19 that I’ll plan to do some testing against the Yoko A052 18’s and the Goodyear SC3 (non R) 19’s.

Here’s a couple pics of the tires. The right stack are the 18’s the left stack are the 19’s.

Best Regards,
Dave

Interested in your results. What's the price on the 315/30/19s? I don't see that size on tire rack.

DaveC113 11-25-2020 08:59 AM

Awesome, I look forward to see what you think!

I was going to go for the 315/18 660s but the price is around $350 which isn't significantly cheaper than any other option so I was thinking I'd just go with A052s as they are a proven tire. However, I'm open to 660s being as good or better, if so it'll save me $200 or so on a set vs A052.

NICE!!!

I think my price was about the same as the 315/30/18... because they couldn't find a price to reference.

The 315/30/19 seems to be a difficult tire to source any real info on.

I was looking more so for a slightly more economical and longer lasting competitive tire for local autox... then pull out the A052's if at an actual Pro Solo / National Tour type of event. I'm not sure the RT-660 will be quicker than the A052... but hopeful it may last longer.

Dave

I've heard the A052 don't last long, but OTOH I've also seen RE71s and Rivals lose grip before they wear out due to heat cycling when used for AutoX. So I wonder if their effective lifespan may not be that much different?

I was also hoping the 660s would be significantly cheaper, and the 305/19s are just under $300, but then the 315/18s are $50 more per tire!

Where/how did you get the 315/30/19? I was hoping those would become available so I could use them in B Street on the rear of my SS 1LE, and the 305/30/19 up front. But I see no place that is selling this size, despite the fact that Falken's own site shows that they exist.

I got them at my local Discount Tire. I did have to 'encourage him' to pick up the phone, and told him that they are available... It took him a week or so to send it up the chain, and they were able to get them... I'll try to check on the shipping labels where they came from and see if that can assist you in escalating with your local tire store.

It took Discount Tire about 6 weeks to get them from when I originally ordered, but I'd have to believe they are going to start being more readily available now.

Dave

Would you mind giving some measurements on width compared to the yokohomas when you have them mounted

Not at all. I also have brand new unmounted 315/30/18 A052's... so I can get those measurements before this weekend.

I'm not sure when I will mount these just yet. My 18's have 295's on them now, from the last GTA event.

Best regards,
Dave

Oh nice let me know how it is!

foshjowler 11-25-2020 12:24 PM

I was planning on getting these to replace my Rivals when the time comes. We'll have to see how active the 2021 season is. If it's like the 2020 season, then it may be 2022 before I need another set.

Looking at how they look at 45 runs in 2020, I should be able to make 150 runs if I'm so inclined.

RUQWIKR 11-25-2020 03:25 PM

The 315/30/18 A052’s new 7/32 version on 11” Apex EC-7 measured as follows: 80.5” circ 25.7” OD, 12-3/8” Section Width, 52.3# with center cap & OEM TPMS.

Jay and Jason tested RT660 with M2 at November Musselman event.
Have you got to test them yet Dave?

No, haven't had a chance to test them yet. Hopefully at December AMP or Jan AMP event will do some back to back testing.

Here are pics comparing the two tires side by side, not mounted.

315/30/18 A052 and 315/30/18 RT660

The Falken looks slightly wider when laying side by side, but it looks to be caused by the Falken having a bit more of a rounded sidewalk.

The Yok actually has just a tad more surface area.

Pics below to help give multiple angles and views.

Dave

Interesting how much more squared off the Yoks are.

apexit53 12-04-2020 09:19 AM

I think yoko rear falken front will be the ticket.

This was my thought exactly

JRL1LE 12-04-2020 10:08 AM

Ignore this post, just read reviews on Tirerack, I see why Falken is better on front.

I haven't seen much feedback yet on the Falkens, why better on the front?

Thanks

Falkens are a little numb on turn in response but put power down very well. Some M2 BS guys were running that setup near the end of last year.

Edit
talking in an autocross setting.

what did you think of the a052 that you had to run at gta finals btw?

I liked them! Front had all sorts of grip... the 295's on the rear left a bit to be desired for rear grip. But overall they are an impressive 200TW tire.

Dave

Just curious - any comparison feedback yet?

Joey Soul 01-05-2021 07:40 PM

Of course they drop right after i mount s007a.

MatthewAMEL 01-05-2021 09:12 PM

Anyone else notice the price shot up $100/tire after the RE71 was discontinued?

Glad I got mine in October!

joelster 01-13-2021 10:37 AM

Got 4 rt660’s in. 315/30/19. Tire Rack currently has a few in stock.

tmalaquin 01-16-2021 11:31 PM

Any feedback on the Falken rt660s? I have read steering feel is exceptional, do you confirm ?
I had SC3R on 19'' 305 square last season but they did only 4 TD and I did not like the steering response. I had -2.7 deg camber and I felt it was hard to position the car in corner entry.(compared the stock SC3).
I am thinking to put the Falken up Font and keep the SC3R on the Rear because grip is phenomenal and not concerned about outer edger on rears. Cheers

joelster 01-17-2021 01:58 PM

I won’t be racing until at least March/April. There’s snow in the ground here.

My 1st AutoX event with them is next weekend. Followed by one every weekend through March, so I hope they don't suck.

Interested to see someone turn laps on a ZLE, hoping these are the solution for Nationals

I got a set of 275/305 coming from Strano for the 1LE - should have them in hand for our next event on the 13th!

275? Not OEM size?

Not running 305 all around for AutoX?

Correct, 19x10/11, just down 1". 305F is just too imprecise, way bigger than the wheel. Plus the car really does like a bit of diameter stagger (front shorter than rear).
