East Hills Chevrolet In NY Is Worthless!

So as some know or not i am returning my lease as it is up. I called GM financial yesterday and they told me i can bring it to any dealership in the USA to drop it off. Well funny thing is i called this morning the closest dealer East Hills Chevrolet in Douglaston, NY and was told by the sales lady that they have no room for any lease returns. This was after she asked if i originally got the car from them. I knew they would try to pull this type of BS and reason being i called once a while ago to get rear diff service and they told me they had no availability and to take it to my original dealer where i got it. This was on more then one occasion i was told this shit (we are booked up this month). I get the feeling they only want to work on cars purchased/leased there. Dealer where i leased the car from would take it back Monday after i called but its a trip for me and uber isnt cheap the ride home.

So i was trying to leave it with a dealer local but seems this is issue, at least with East Hills Chevrolet. Stay away from this dealer and look at their reviews before you ever think of going there. I am calling them out on their crap here just for you all to know if you live around here or think to deal with them.

Most dealers do the same thing if you don’t buy it from them screw you.

Dealers live and die by reviews. Negative reviews really hurt them.

I posted a review on dealer FB page over scuffed leather wheel on my 5th Gen Vert. They replaced the header panel & scuffed the wheel. They denied. I contacted dealer network rep, (13 dealers in Phx Valley) and Chevy Corporate. Within 3 days I got a call, steering wheel was on order. They knew I was serious to damage their reputation. Why would customer service deny and then replace? Bad taste left in my mouth. The new wheel didn't reverse my disdain. 3 weeks later I traded the car in.

dealers dont turn down work. if they are booked they are booked but they do not refuse to do service work on cars they didnt sell. warranty work they sometimes dont want to do but normal service is how they stay in business. Think about it. If they didnt sell you the car but you come there for service they are now making money off that car and possibly a new customer. Lease turn ins i believe go to auction. Maybe the dealer doesnt get much for receiving it. But its a great way to get you into the dealership to sell you a new car. maybe call back and speak to someone else. the person you spoke too may have been there last day.

Very few decent Chevy dealers in metro NYC. Was one of the reasons I did not replace my 2000 Camaro SS with another Chevy - too hard to get decent service.

Very true indeed. Not the reason i didn't go back with Chevy but in back of my mind it rests there on that fact.. LOL. Also i am not going to be around the bush but the same goes with Dodge dealers in my area. My luck with service departments/dealers regardless where i got it in NY sucks! I got a great deal while away in Florida on a Challenger 392 Shaker. The deals and incentives they offered there were far off in better terms of what they quoted me here back in NY. So i picked my car up in Delray Beach and drove it home the following day.

Bought both of my 1LE’s at east hills. Sales staff was excellent and got a great deal both times around. Sorry to hear about you’re experience.

Thanks! Glad to hear they take care of their customers who purchase cars from them at least. I just got a bad taste in my mouth from the way i was put off 2 times for service and now the BS lease return crap.

Tomorrow is a sad day as the Camaro is going back to the original dealer for turn in. Was a great car in many ways and i will miss it a lot!

And that's funny because?

vicm251 03-18-2019 06:24 AM

that's crazy to hear ....I lease my Camaro thru bical CHevy in Valley Stream it was a terrible experience, I will never get a car from them ever again. Dealers in NYC area are tough to deal with in general.

solobaric 03-18-2019 09:23 AM

Well dang. Now you have me nervous for my lease return. I bought my car 5 hours away. Was told I could return to any Chevrolet dealer. Anyone else have issues returning theirs to a different dealer?

SSport16 03-18-2019 09:29 AM

Good luck with the Challenger, hope you enjoy it!

Lanzz 03-18-2019 10:39 AM

keon, I had great luck with Merrick Dodge out on Sunrise Highway in Wantagh. I had a Challenger R/T after the Camaro, and Merrick had really great service. If I had stayed in NYC, I would have bought my next car from them, just based on the service.

Don't be nervous, you should be able to trade it back to any GM dealer. These asses at East Hills are just being idiots. Call GM financial if you leased through them and let them set up the appointment i found out they can...

Good to hear and spread the word as these good dealers are not easy to come by!

keon, just keep your eye out that the lease return actually gets processed by the dealer. I returned a Chrysler 300c at a dealer in Charlotte - they gave me a receipt and everything. But they let the car sit for 4 weeks - didn't process it in the system - so my lease technically did not end. I had to call almost daily to be sure they processed it. (I believe it is technically called "grounding" the vehicle...) Just an FYI, might not be an issue, but something to look out for.

Thanks for letting me know. I had a few Jeep's leased from them so i definitely will keep a eye out on it as well as contact GM financial to let them know it was handed in. :thumb:

I didn't even know people Leased Camaros. I though that was mostly for BMW LS models...as in BMW "Lease Specials". LOL.

Stop by, I would love to hear how you like the Challenger.

I'm in a similar situation since I leased my Camaro in NC and then later moved to OH. I called GM Financial about my new address and that I need to return the car to a dealership here in OH. I was told to check in with my preferred dealership and they would take care of it. When I asked them they said I had to call GM Financial and figure it out with them first. It's going back and forth over a year now and I have to turn in the car beginning of May. Funny thing is, GM Financial wrote me a letter a couple of months ago about the lease-end procedure and they even mentioned that I should call them if I've moved a significant distance to change the dealership. Well, that didn't help either to convince the customer representative on the phone...
I'm curious how this will work out in the end. I really love the car and I will definitely miss it, but I'm so sick and tired of GM Financial and all the Chevy Dealerships I was in touch with. I wish I would've found this forum earlier to get my car from Becky.

Here was the reply i received on a review i wrote to East Hills Chevrolet -

East Hills Chevrolet of Douglaston responded -

"I realize our store is convenient for you. I also realize your bank has offered to you to bring your vehicle to our store to drop it off. I understand you are frustrated that we said we would not take your vehicle in. As I wrote in prior reviews, we have no where to store your turned in vehicle. We are land locked. We pay for a storage facility offsite to store our vehicles available for sale. If you would purchase a vehicle from us then we would figure out a way to store your vehicle until your bank comes and gets it. I'm sorry my team did not explain these nuances to you."

I recently brought my car to Novato Chevrolet one evening to have them look at my fading wheels. I spoke to a very nice person (Andrew) who took the time to take a look and understand the situation. Unfortunately, it was past 5 PM so the service manager was gone.

When I returned early one morning to speak to the service manager (Roger Fong) he quickly looked at my car and said it was modified. He then looked at one of the wheels and noticed a PRESSED scuff mark that had been there when I bought the car (probably from the delivery straps).

I began to explain how I took delivery with the mark but before I could explain any further he quickly started to walk back inside while telling me GM would not do anything and to go back to where I bought it.

I seriously wish the guy I had spoke to first that late evening was the service manager because he was much more professional.

Eventually, I took my car to Victory Chevy and had two very nice gentlemen look, understand the situation, and set me up with an appointment (which I couldn't make).

MRR M017s should be delivered tomorrow

What a pathetic response. Their space issues are not your problem.

Years back I had a wife dying of ALS.
I bought a wheelchair van and returned my lease car early. My selling dealership was no longer in business.
I took the lease car to a different dealership, parked it, took extensive photos, and gave the keys to the business manager. Took photos of the keys on his desk. He wasn’t happy. It worked out fine.
