When can you order a 2017 ZL1?

I've been contacting my local dealers and not one of them can tell me when or how to order a new ZL1. Does anyone have more information?

Artos 10-06-2016 09:57 AM

They must be idiots...you can order the standard right now, but the auto 10 speed has to wait around till Jan or so.

Maybe they don't have allocations but kinda shocked you are getting bs responses.

DenverTaco07 10-06-2016 09:58 AM

people already have orders in. The dealer has to have an "allocation", which are fairly minimal at this time as it is a new release. Maybe try a large volume dealer, go in and ask them if they have an allocation for a ZL1.

If you search this forum you will find tons of infio.

Ordered mine 2 days ago.. My second ZL1.. WOOOOO HOOOOO

rtm_tinman 10-06-2016 12:11 PM

Sucks, I never had a sports car but wanted something different. Z06 will not fit my family. I'll try a larger dealer but looks like I might be currently out of luck.

I am a Camaro guy, and plan on getting an 18' ZL1 in about a year, but if you are looking for a sports car with family space, the 6th Gen Camaro is the wrong car for you.
The Hellcat Challenger will be a better choice as it has a backseat that can fit someone my size, with me in the front.
I'm 6'1" and 210 lbs btw.

Hit up BeckyD@Rodgerschevrolet here on the forums, I might have to cancel here and order through her if my order doesn't have movement soon.

Geeeez, was it the manual or adm that sparked your fuse?

Nawambo 10-07-2016 07:35 AM

Ya, even though I have a deposit down with my dealer (he doesn't have Phase 1 yet) and I've been calling around only to find silly ADMs or no allocations yet.

rtm_tinman 10-07-2016 07:36 AM

It's not to be a family car. I just want to be able to bring my kid with us. And I'm not a fan of mopar. Looks nice but not my thing.

rtm_tinman 10-07-2016 07:37 AM

I called a large dealer in Massachusetts and they told me not till next year because only the south west is getting them. I asked why? He said becasue the weather getting colder and snow. Are you serious!!

yes, he is serious because the traction of the tires they are equipped with is severely degraded in temperatures under 40 degrees.

They did the same with the last ZL1 if I recall.

but then I don't think it was true for the entire generation...so IDK.

flatrockguy 10-07-2016 09:39 AM

Look at the CTS-V if your looking for room and performance. I'm ordering one next summer because my kids are getting bigger and already complain about sitting in the back of my gen 5 ZL1.

Wow...had no idea they would allow that to affect deliveries of the region.

Well, our summers do suck but it rarely gets below freezing down here, so I guess there is a plus when it comes to year round driving time I'll get.

rtm_tinman 10-07-2016 01:56 PM

I wonder if I should contact a dealer in the south. I don't mind a road trip

Koons Tyson in VA has a black on black RTE that will be delivered by January, plus two Phase 1 allocations (that is, if nawamba didn't snap one up already :))

When demand exceeds the supply, somebody has to go without. Most of the ZL1s that would get sold in the north during the winter would get parked until spring anyways. But every car that goes to a dealership in the north is one car that doesn't get sent south -where it could be driven & enjoyed. Personally, I wouldn't even bother trying to order such a car from between the beginning of October & the end of February. Sure, I could get winter rims and snow tires for my brand new car ... but that doesn't keep it safe from salt & crap every time its driven.

rtm_tinman 10-07-2016 08:26 PM

How can you find out who has allocations?

Thanks friend, they said they are almost certain they will go for ADM, but have my number if they have more details on price.

You have to call around to the dealers and ask them on an individual basis. Only a dealer and his/her GM Rep will know how many allocations (if any) that particular dealer has. In my experience not everyone on staff at a given dealer will even know what you're talking about. If you want to cut to the chase, ask for the person who handles Workbench orders, and/or a Corvette / Camaro specialist.

Don't put down any money until you get an 1100 SRE Workbench order and a commitment from the dealer to submit to GM before the next DOSP runs on Nov. 3rd. I personally encountered two different dealers who played games with me over this allocation business before finding one who made such a commitment. Most of us aren't so lucky as to have a dealer we've known for years that we can automatically trust without question.

rtm_tinman 10-08-2016 07:23 AM

Jesusmetal777,

Where did you order yours do they have more allocations?

HyperBlueX2 10-08-2016 08:21 AM

As far as only the south getting ZL1 allocation in the winter months..... that is a total crap story!

It is solely based on prior 6-12 months of Camaro sales....

If a high volume dealer did not have a high amount of Camaro sales, they will not get allocation......

This is the bottom line.....

If you think I am wrong, ask Becky.........

She gets allocation because of her high volume sales of Camaros......

Castle Chevrolet of Villa Park. They have gotten additional allocations and sold them already...they have a wait list now. My advice would be start calling dealers in concentric circles around you or wherever you're willing to travel.

jesusmetal777 10-08-2016 10:21 AM

Unless you want a White ZL1...Castle does have one unsold and set for TPW 10/17. I can PM you my salesman's info if you're interested.

SSNYSTR 10-08-2016 10:25 AM

Southwest my ass. I know a guy here in Louisiana that ordered his a over a month ago.

My thought process was more along the lines of a big dealer that would tolerate missing sales be it sooner rather than later on a desirable product vs weather issues.

Doesn't affect me one way or the other. Really don't know how some of you guys put up with those nasty conditions. Living here along the border for close to 5 decades has me a little acclimated to warm weather. I'm miserable if it gets below 40!!

I am however ready for some north wind and at least needing to wear long sleeved shirts soon!!

Available ZL1 Allocation

Just talked to a dealer in NM. He has a ZL1 on order with no firm commitment. Manual tranny, red hot. Doesn't work for me, I want auto tranny. If anyone is interested contact Jeff at Reliable Chevy in NM. Good luck.

396ssrat 10-08-2016 04:55 PM

If I were Chevrolet I'd get these cars on the lots for sale sooner than later. The coming election and the following year have unknown scenarios which could play out. Make the money while you cn and assume nothing. Ram outsold Silverado in September which should be an eye opener for Chevy. Start giving the customers what they want, not what you think they should have.

mkorgan 10-08-2016 05:38 PM

I have two on order here in Central Florida. My primary is TPW 10/17/16 and my backup is 10/24/16. Both HyperBlue, M6, ECF, PDR, NAV. Both dealers know about the other dealer and I have told them whoever get it first wins. So, there will be one available down here in Florida. If you like the build you can probably get the second one.

stella16 10-10-2016 03:49 PM

when is normal ordering for the ZL1?

when can we expect to be able to order the 2018 A10?

Is it always sept/oct?
