Track Days at Motorsports Ranch - Cresson
 

You guys should sign up for one of the open track days at Cresson where four different configurations can be run. You can see the schedules at the various HPDE providers along with SCCA.

I plan on making the trip from Austin to drive this track. Don't know which date yet. Have to do the whole travel thing with hotel room etc.

Apex has a Saturday 9/8 date for the 3.1 that will only have 25 cars per run group. The Driver's Edge has 3.1 two day events the first weekends in October and November.

There is a motel that is decent right across from the track (Scottish Inn) or you can stay in Benbrook or southwest side of Ft. Worth at Hampton Inn or higher level or can stay in Granbury just south of the track. Plenty within 20 minutes or so drive. The Scottish Inn will give you a discount if you mention the group you are running with.

You will find the 3.1 much more challenging than COTA, though, without the rock star feeling you get when at COTA.

Apex Saturday 9/8 3.1-mile event is open for registration.

I just got approved to do the Apex 9/8 date as PROVISIONAL INTERMEDIATE since it's for SOLO INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED ONLY. Total understandard being provisional since it will be my first time at this track. They will have instructors available to ride with me the first session or two which I think is a great idea the first time out on a new track.
Looks like the cost is only $230 for the day.

They are great guys and will work with you until you and them are comfortable. You'll love the track and the event.

I just signed up for the Apex 9/8 date. Can't wait to try this track after watching a bunch of videos driving it

Come out on a The Drivers Edge, Edge Addicts, or Chin event as those of us in RED / ADVANCED can take passengers. If you've never been on Cresson, especially the 1.3 or 3.1, it will help to see the typical lines for cars like ours.

Chin 3-day is this weekend (all four configurations) and The Driver's Edge 3.1 is weekend after next.

Loved my first time at Cresson on the 3.1. Headed back for more on Nov 16 with Apex and then a triple play with Edge Addicts Nov 17-19 for 4 days in a row at Cresson!

Great! Will be there on the 3.1 this weekend, then 3.1 F 11/16 with Apex. For the Edge Addicts Triple Play, one of my sons will be in the car on Saturday (1.3) and Sunday (1.7), and I'll be in it Monday for the 3.1 while he goes back to school.

What lap times you run on the 3.1 ccw? What mods do you have?

I'm hitting up MSR Houston in December. Can't wait.

Depends on weather and traffic: 2:21.96 best, 2:23-2:24 typical. Ran 2:25 flat today with water at the bottom of "Toilet Bowl" all day in the brake zone, water & mud in spots, plus some traffic. At least it's open (point by) passing in my group to not slow you down too much. Mods: ZL1 1LE wheels & tires & brakes.

Times between my AIM SOLO 2 and the PDR are close. Hard to set the START / FINISH the same exactly. My Harry's LapTime is all over the mad, usually optimistic. My friend uses Harry's in his non-PDR C7, and it shows times right with mine - he's not in the same zip code by the end of the session.

wow those are some fast times. 2:23 is what Mark Martin did in his modified ZL1 1LE on slicks. see you Friday, I'm going to try and park in the covered area

Lots of good events out there this year. SCCA TNIA goes 5 times on the 1.7 CCW. Edge Addicts and Apex Driving Academy along with The Driver's Edge. Come play sometime, especially on the 1.3 or 3.1 configurations.

Looking forward to doing the 3.1 on April 1. In the meantime stuck with doing laps at COTA. May make it out to MSRH this year sometime

Have COTA in October with Edge marked down and maybe one of the night events, too.

Not much of a video posting guy, but, I put a video from last summer up that I had handy that I could upload. I met some Texas and Louisiana guys this weekend at MSR-Cresson (3.1) with my son (20yo) who was driving. As mentioned in the post below link, I've been 2:21 flat a number of times last year. Hope to be a bit better this year. I try to learn each time I go.

Just wondering if you attended the HPDE at Cessions yesterday?
Or if anyone else on here attended?


Only asking because 2 of my co-workers attended, 1 had a Challenger Scat Pack, the other had a Mustang GT Premium.
They mentioned they saw a few Camaro's out there like mine.


They were shooting the shiet and told me I better get some mods quick because they were lapping some Camaros...LOL!


I told them I don't need mods, at stock and I will lap them!



I'm on the fence about getting back into tracking cars, only because of the cost, but I'll definitely make it out at least 1 -2 more times, which may put me over the fence! Nah, I'm on a fixed budget now...age has it's good points and bad points...LOL!!

I was out there. There were at least three other SS 1LE's (Hyper Blue, Artic Blue, and Ashen Grey) and two ZL1 1LE's (White & Ashen Grey) out there as well. Except on a warm up lap or slowing down on purpose to let buddies catch up, the Mustangs were not that fast. A black GT350 was decently quick.

The guys I work with were in the novice class, so you may not have seen them or on the track at the same time.

I know carguy55 (Mike) is coming out this weekend to Cresson for The Driver's Edge 3.1 event - and so am I. Hope to see some other Gen 5 / 6 folks out there.

3Feb (Monday) on 3.1 at Cresson should be fun. The weekday sessions are usually relaxed.

I am planning to but have not signed up yet. Edge Addicts is a good group to run with. Will you be in your new green ZL1? Sold the 2013 yet?
