Yeah, I have been tossing this around a lot. I would love a stall, but the extra work sucks. Rear diff swap would be much easier.

Actual part costs I figure to be about the same if comparing a used diff to having a converter built.

Tuning would be more difficult for the stall.

Improved ET , I would give the edge to gears..

IDK, I would love to see some opinions

I bet a stall would cost more than a used diff. Circle D charges $1200 (plus core exchange) for an 8l90 converter... I'm guessing roughly the same, as long as custom crap isn't needed for an 8l45, so figure $1200, plus you'd have to provide them with a core 8l45 converter to the tune of about $~350...

I like the idea of a 3800-4000ish stall converter, but as it is, I can't even launch at max stall on the stock converter at the drag strip. Of course, I attribute a lot of this to my ghetto drag tires. A guy would have to have some good tires to properly utilize a higher stall converter at the track.

The tuning probably isn't bad. My G8 has a 3000ish stall converter, and tuning changes were minimal to get everything working properly.

*edit* well I sent circle d an email, they're considering the 8l45 custom at this time, and the custom department is booked up until spring time, they said to check back then.

You might want to look into Yank, as they are significantly cheaper for restalled stock-ish style converters. I know you could get their 4th gen 4L60 Street Converter for under $500.

I was looking in the V8 section recently and noticed that Circle D is no longer requiring the use of a stock core. I believe they have a full billet piece now.

any updates on converters, or has anyone tried the gm 3800 ltg stall? Not sure if that will work with stock trans

Only the manuals have LSD for LT’s

2.0 T has 3.27 non-LSD

2.0T & 3.6 Manual have 3.27 LSD

If you want more info, here’s my chart: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=584316
