Is there anything else the dealer is supposed to look for during this 500 mile service? I want to make sure I cover all my bases when I’m under the car in my driveway.

Thank you men.

Nope, nothing else really. Very simple job. Just stand back because the oil shoots STRAIGHT out for a solid minute before it starts to slow down. Make sure you have a big enough catch pan.

I figured there wasn’t going to be much else to the job, I just wanted to make sure.
Thank you sir.

Odd. Still works for me. Here's a screenshot of what it is though. Sent from GM Customer Care & Aftersales.

Amyone notice the asterisk next to the LT4 under the Camaro column?

It says at the bottom “not for 1LE package”

Talk about adding to the confusion??

The only reason that would be is because the 15w50 is still a more extreme track oil and they're figuring that a 1LE will see the most abuse/more abuse than "regular" cars. And it says "not recommended" so it's just a recommendation. Obviously anybody who can think for themselves will realize if they need the 15w50. Chances are if you're that serious into tracking to justify the better oil, you probably won't run Mobil 1 anyway.

Thanks for the link. And I agree, the 15W-50 is for extreme track duty.

But, that 'not recommended' is going to cause issues at the dealerships for some people. Some will only go with 'recommended' And will not really think about the 'not recommended' and just tell people not to use it, even for the street.

Next fill for the street I will definitely look at the 0w-40.

I see. After you put it that way, it makes total sense.

I was a little confused because I thought I read somewhere that the 0w40 was also good for the track.

I can see how these oil discussions can get out of hand. Hahaha

This website is not the greatest !!

I’m looking to order the engine and diff oil. After entering the part numbers it doesn’t give you much of a description!!!

Does this price look right to you guys? This is for the diff oil.

And I’m pretty sure this is the correct oil filter but I just want to make sure.

Alain 06-29-2018 01:57 PM

Got the engine and diff oil from my dealership today. So I would think that most of you guys should be able to get it from your local dealers.

I’m Doing the job on Monday. I can’t wait !!!

Does anyone know if this is going to be the officially recommended oil for 2017/2018 ZL1? That bulletin only mentions 2019 models. I’m going to assume that no mechanical changes were made to the LT4 for 2019, which would make me think that GM would make the change official across the board.

Can anyone confirm that the differential has a drain plug?

It does. Smack dab in the lower middle of the rear cover. Then a fill port up top on drivers side. You’ll need a pump of some kind to fill it.
