And while there's a good chance this is it, just know there's no guarantee. (I imagine Number 3 could back me up on this.)

GM would not likely be trying out multiple lamps. Headlamp tooling is expensive.
Now the question is this the base lamp? An uplevel lamp?
Note the "pre DV" notation. This means pre Design Validation. So from that it could be an early lamp used to try some things out.
Regardless from previous history, someone at the supplier WILL be fired or GM would likely threaten future business. GM can only influence the supplier here and can't actually do the firing.
Also from an earlier post GM would not do a release like this for interest. They would do like they did for the Volt and more recently the Equinox and show a front teaser shot of the lamp installed. Showing test part from a dumpster isn't it.
