May be a dumb question but I haven't been following it and kinda too lazy to do my own research :D but is the NX lid just a bolt on replacement requiring no supporting parts? And does it improve anything other than making the blower louder/option of plumbing for NOS/Meth? Air flow? Cooling? HP?

It does not take any supporting parts. Some say the air flow and HP are slightly improved but I have seen no evidence to prove it. I am going to do one but mainly for the meth, might do 100 shot to go with it

Lid just bolts on...you do have to take the rubber seals off the stock one and put on the NX lid.
I bought mine for adding laughing gas later...but the looks of the lid and the added benefit of hearing that blower, was alone worth the money to me!

How about a PDR comparison video with the NX lid VS stock with the dampener removed? Also just to put it out there could the NX lid with Meth be installed and cure all the issues with oil build up in the intake? Would it not wash the whole system out? Just sayin. Thanks for the work in this post guys!

I will do one when I buy the NX lid. The meth would help in my opinion. However the meth will be boost activated so it will only be introduced it short burst unlike port injection that is always spraying fuel on the pistons

Sounds good but, I'm not in a position to judge. What did you think? Any louder or more pronounced whine?

Agreed I have a rotofab, ported tb, & second cat delete, and on my pdr mine sounds almost as loud as yours, and you also have a pulley and the mod to the lid... Did the Lid make that big of a difference? Or is the extra whine you have over mine from the pulley?

It is a little louder then it was, the biggest difference I hear is off throttle when the rpms are still up. That being said it is nothing like the NX lid videos I have heard. Still hard to hear over the exhaust inside the car.

Cool, thanks

Listening to them back to back his definitely sounds louder. My guess is the pulley makes a bigger difference than the lid insulator.

Any drone with the 2nd cat delete? Sounds good, how did you do it, straight pipe cut in or a kit of some sort?

No drone, and it only made it mildly louder. Just cut the second cat out and had a exhaust shop weld in new stainless pipe cost 60 bucks

Well, there's one way to find out... Leave it out and see if the S/C whine improves.

Anyone have a contact at Eaton to ask them?

I'm interested in this as well. If that is nothing but a noise insulator mine will be off this week!

kwav8r 03-13-2018 11:45 AM

I took mine off when I did a catch can install.

I do not have an aftermarket CAI and I did notice a difference in the S/C whine. It wasn't miraculous but it's there and louder but not by much.

As for it being an insulator- it is a pretty sturdy piece of metal and dampening material but, I wonder if it's there to contain the S/C rotors if they come apart??? The fact that the NX lids don't have them leads me to NOT believe this is the case though.
