I figured the gauge went to zero but where there any signs before it happened like sounds or was it how the car was being driven at the time of failure like cruising or drag racing? When it failed did they have to replace the engine or just put another oil pump in.

Here's how it went:

1. Started car and drove out of garage to wash in driveway. Everything OK.

2. Started car to move to another spot in driveway after washing. Everything OK.

3. Started car to put back in garage. Just as I get the nose of the car up to the garage entrance, going maybe 2mph, get warnings about low oil pressure and to stop engine.

Oil pump replaced. Engine completely checked out by dealer. Runs great. No problems so far.

Thanks for the info! I wonder if it was the same kind of failure for the other cars.

For the most part an engine can run for quite a while without oil pressure and zero damage..you'd be surprised how long (not racing it of course).

I hope my pump doesn't fail. I've modded my car and only have 2800 miles...lol.

Mine was pretty similar. Normal driving coming to a stop low oil pressure warning came on, stopped car had it towed.

Only Zl1 2018?
(As Stats can show)

Same oil pump on LT1 and LT4?
Any issues on regular SS or 1LE?

Just seen a couple on Zl1....

18 zl1, oil pump failed at 10, 500 km. Also worried about another failure of the new pump.

Ughhh...today I hit 3000miles. Scared to death...lol

2018 built 8/17

3,397 miles, light came on, everything operated fine. Took it in, they said it had to do with a brief unusual oil pressure reading. Cleared the code.

3,883 miles, track day, after second run, pulling into pits and stopped to cool down. This time the light came on and also a warning that said I had low oil pressure.
I revved the engine and the low oil pressure warning went out. Let it idol and it came back on.
Took it in, they replaced the oil pump. He took pictures and sent them to me. Two large cracks. They said when they called GM for ideas, they said GM knew right away it was the oil pump.
