For anyone who's purchased a VMAX ported Throttle Body, how do you know you're getting one that's the same age as the one you're turning in as a core? I asked Chase at Apex that question and his initial response was that there's no way to know how old the ported TB you get back is. He says they're inspected and/or reconditioned if necessary. That's not really acceptable to me though. My factory TB is only about 3 months old, and I don't want to get one that's 3 years old back. "Inspection" and "reconditioned" are subjective IMO. I know if I ask this out in the forums I'll get the normal fanboy responses or flamed for even asking so I want to ask here first in case someone has knowledge of the process. I may also ask someone at VMAX how it works also.

Well I guess I'll have to stick my neck out on the forum to get this answered. Not real thrilled about turning in my 3 month old TB for a 3 y/o unknown.

IDK where you live man but I had mine ported by S2 Performance in Arlington Tx. for $100. Just have to be 4 days down time but he will use yours. I didn't want to deal with the shipping/reshipping headache and you know its yours.

I'm in Wylie. I had my TB in my Formula ported on the spot at Fastech by Sean Freez back 12 years ago, and IIRC it was $50. I think I read on the vmax site that you can ship your own in but it'll take 4-6 weeks. That would be fine if I could borrow one, but don't know how that would work out.
Does the shop in Arlington CNC port? Does that even matter?

He does it by hand, he also does CNC heads, port intakes, build engines the whole works. Google S2 Performance for more details. I've only used him to port throttle bodies for the past 8yrs. I send him buddys of mine and always happy with the throttle response. There is no real HP gains but feels like you gained 8rwhp or so. Same goes for the Vmax.

Small world dude. I know Mark Shaner. He was a member of LS1.com and I remember hanging with him at some car shows and Hooters GTG's back in the day. Ain't that some shit?!
