Hi all!
I'm not as active on C5 as I would like to be but I figured this would be a way to get together with some of my true die-hard Camaro lovers and fans that were brave enough to step up and pony up the cash for cars we couldn't see, sit in, or drive, in most cases. I personally got an Auto show "sit" in Chicago in the winter of 08-09 so I knew I physically fit, but was not able to see colors in person prior to going with IOM.
As we all approach the end of our bumper-to-bumper and start to weigh keeping forever vs. a possible 6th gen vs. an "upgrade" to a ZL1 or 1LE vs. starting mods, etc., I just wanted a place for use to reflect and share.
I still have my car and love it. Life took a big fatherhood change for me about the same time my car was delivered so I have not spent the kind of time with it that I would have hoped to over the past few years. I hope that changes over time. My son is now two and recognizes Camaros on the street and hollers "Maro! Maro!" (He WILL learn "CAMARO" when he's older. Cute enough for now.) I attended C5Fest 3 with my fiance and her two daughters, 5 and 8 with our car.
Mine is a 2SS/RS IOM M6 w/o a Sunroof. IOM interior. Chicklets. No B/U sensors. Wheel weights on the brakes. One of the later R6P cars built; well after a lot of regular production vehicles were run. Not sure why? I took delivery Sept. 24, 2009 so I am a couple weeks from running out of bumper-to-bumper.
My car has never been driven in the rain or snow and has about 8000 miles on the clock. It has only spent three nights outside since I took delivery, all at the Fest. It is very pampered and I still consider it a dream car. My first two cars ever as a teen were a '69 and a '68.
I plan to hang onto her for as long as possible. I'm currently in the middle of the process to get a repaint before warranty expires for a real freak condition in the paint known as solvent pops. I'm hoping the General makes me whole; so far the process seems to be working and not falling on deaf ears as some people have experienced. This is my first warranty claim on my car and the only time it's ever been back to the dealership.
Current mod list is short with MGW shifter, tinted windows, painted engine cover, K&N filter element, painted bowties, and some AAC interior lighting. Way more to come as life and time allow.
So what's your story? Where are you all at?
