Batmobile 3 - Taking it slow
This is my 4th V8 Camaro in less than 6 years. That was 3 5th Gens and now my 2016 SS. This one is tie for my favorite, although it was not my decision to buy a new SS so soon.
I am calling this thread Batmobile 3. This story goes back to my first 5th gen SS and goes with yet another black Camaro. The best looking non color (to me) and also the hardest to keep clean. Also this is a M6 like all of my previous 4th, 5th, and now 6th gen Camaros. Fun is what I am after and M6 (again to me) is the most fun to drive. Here are some pics: My last 3 Camaros: 2015 M6 ZL1: (Bought back by GM) http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8673215 2013 1LE: (Twin turbos! But eventually totalled) http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6751829 2011 LS3 SS: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127900 My Atco thread is here: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450694 The '16 is:
Initially my plans for the car will only be mild mods. I plan to do them slowly one at a time and I will document those changes here. Mods so far:

ZL1 Addons No drill License Plate Holder
Luckily my SS was delievered to me with the front license plate holder not installed. This I discovered this no drill plate holder solutions from ZL1 Add-Ons. Perfect! And if i ever need it, (I hope not.) I have this nice tow hook I can keep in the trunk. It will take a bit of work to get the plate holder off.
Edit: I drilled a small hole in the plate so I can remove the plate assembly with just an allen wrench. Now when I need to be towed off a track I can remove the plate and add the tow hook in a minute or so. I hope I do not need to use this mod. https://www.zl1addons.com/index.php/...-camaro-detail Pics:

Mishimoto Catch can
I installed the Mishimoto catch can as my second mod. I know what you are thinking, man can this thread get any more exciting? Well just wait until I get a ported TB, then you will just have to subscribe to this thread!
So far I am enjoying the car stock so much I am not in any hurry to mod this car. It handles great, is as fast as my 2015 ZL1 and I can go into a quiet luxury mode whan just cruising. I do have to confess I have a Mishimoto CAI on order, but as of now they are still not shipping. I am impressed with the quality of thier work, but really I bought it because of the pre-release price. I am in no hurry to put it on as I think I can squeeze another tenth out of it stock. My best so far is a high 12.4. In the fall I will put on the DRs, the CAI, and a ported TB and go for 11s in the mineshaft Atco air. The catch can is an easy install. My biggest problemwas routing the hoses so thye looked right and dropping a socket under the air box. Luckily my magnet on a flexible stick came to the rescue.

Owning SSes for 50 Years
|
I checked out your posts after sending you the PM this morning. Nice car and it looks like you have the same thoughts about it as I do on mine. I'm on my 4th Camaro as well, a 4th gen, 2 5th gens and now this 6th gen. I had a couple Corvettes in between and traded my 2010 Grand Sport on this Camaro...that was a smart move. I put a Mishimoto catch can on and a CAI cai, so our mods are about the same.
Trying to get ready for the Holley LS Fest (includes LT1s as well). I've entered 5 of the six times and won enough money to pay for all of my entry fees to date. I have no real ambition on winning more prize money, but it's a great fun 3 day event that no Chevy guy should miss. Check it out and get there if you can.

Upgrading my Camaro's shoes. 305-35R20 Nitto NT555Rs for the back and NT555G 275-40R20s for the front. The wheels are 10x20 front and 11x20 in the back and are lighter than the stock wheels. My stock wheels will become my winter wheels and maybe powder coat them once the tires are off. I will have to get rid of the runflats at some point.
Waiting on these to arrive: (Be here tomorrow....)

I added MRR M017 1LE Replica Wheels.
I had to move the wiring connector in the front of the drivers side rear wheelwell to keep the backs from rubbing. The fronts were a nightmare but I ended up with 5mm Spagcer to clear the lower spring collar. But in the end I like the look and the quieter and smoother rise of the Nittos. And they stick. It is hard to take a goodlooking picture of a black car. Still working on it.

How much quieter are the Nittos over the run flats? How much smoother is the ride?
Is traction any better when transitioning from uneven surfaces? I'm wondering how much of the "bad behaviors" of this car can be attributed to the runflats? |

The ride is a little smoother and silkier, but to be fair these tires are a little taller. That boomy sound on some pavement seems to be gone. There is some tire noise but overall a little quieter.
