Is it possible we could see 6th gen in 2014?

I was just thinking about when we could see an official reveal of the 6th gen and realized, if it is a 2016 model, wouldn't we see it sometime in 2014?

We will probably start seeing heavily camouflaged test mules sometime soon with a full reveal later in 2014 or at Detroit January 2015.

That's been my opinion as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a test vehicle/spy shots in 9 mo.

That's what I was thinking.

Should be interesting to see the developments. I wasn't following the 5th gen from mules to its reveal to its release but I will be following the 6th gen.

I'm really hoping it would be made in right hand drive configuration so I can get one. Ford is offering their mustang in right hand drive in 2015/16.

*crosses fingers* Please let us know enough about the design ahead of time so we still have time to order that 5th gen ZL1 if we like the 5th gen better *crosses fingers*

I don't think you will see anything on the 6th gen, They are probably testing the power train in ATS coupe mules. Time will tell, but I am very excited for the 6th gen!

I'm just thinking that since we usually see new models about a year before they hit dealers, that should be sometime in the next year for the 6th gen. The mules will probably be covered in ATS skins like you said.

We can but it can't be registered for road use unless I'm close friends with the VIPs(Royal) or something and foreign embassy personnel can register their left hand side cars but they must shipped it back to their country. Left hand drives cars can be driven but only certain people can use it.

That's why we are hoping the next Camaro will be available in RHD!

I'm currently in Qatar & driving a left hand Drive 2013 Mustang. If I shipped it back to my country which is a RHD nation. It will be hard to register.

When exactly is it expected to be release?

2015 or 2016?

The conventional wisdom is a 2016 model year... released in 2015.

The answer is no for two reasons. First it makes no sense to finalize a Gen6 until the new Mustang is out and fully evaluated by the public and trade rags. Second, GM needs to get a little payback on the facelift; like one more model year. Everything points to a 2016 Gen6.

Another very important point is GM needs to get a little mileage out of the 2014 Z/28. This will be the CAMARO highlight until the 2016 MY.

I don't see them waiting until 2015 because that would be only 6 months from reveal to release if it's a 2016 model year.

If they reveal it this time next year, it would be a good 15 months before release. Like I said the Z/28 will be the next thunder they have no incentive to detract attention from the Gen5 especially after seeing the egg laid by the new Mustang.

I think they should release it without warning like Beyonce did with her new album!!! Just 'BOOM' there it is on a dealer lot, same day in a magazine....that would really mess people up!! especially if its more a revolution than evolution. Yes, that would be freaking cool.

It would be cool if we could get a look at it while we can still order the 5th gen. My plan is to buy a 2015 as I love this body style and to have the last year all the better, but would also be bummed if I see and love the 6 th gen.

You've got nothing to worry about in this regard. I guarantee you that at the time when you (and the rest of us) finally do see the 6th gen, it will still be possible for you to order a 5th gen. There's typically a window of at least 6 months when the new car has been revealed but they're still building the old car.

I don't quite understand this, could you elaborate? I think it's been confirmed that the next generation will come out as a 2016 model year car, so that means it comes out in the Fall of 2015. If they release information this time next year (Late December 2014) then that means they would be releasing the information 6-8 months before the usual release of 2016 model year cars?

When you see camouflaged cars in the spy photos of all the magazines, start the 18 month clock to production. As we haven't seen a photo yet of IV running around you are at the very least a summer of 2015 SORP.

Based on GM's recent history you will not see anything outside of the 1 year window. That would mean the soonest would be LA in November? Then Detroit (January 2015, Chicago (February 2015) or New York (April 2015).

Look at the Corvette. How long before production was it released at an auto show? How long prior did you start to get performance specs?

It's always a balance between giving out information that would make you think about buying a competitor but also not make you wait from buying the current car.
