NO - Let's not go there

This is where our info seems to differ a bit. My point was that while Camaro will be Alpha based it won't share the same dimentions, wheelbase or weight with the ATS or CTS. However some good info suggests Camaro will have more in common with it's CTS Alpha mate than ATS. What that means 2.5 years out is anyones guess at this time.

- Bring in Corvette's new interior, materials, color HUD, displays, etc.
- Simplify the controls on the steering wheel. Controls should be Intuitive
- Selectable color for dash lighting (even if footwell lighting is not selected as option)
- HD Radio
- Driver seat memory (just kidding, no one is driving this but me)
- Improved rear camera with path markers based upon wheel deflection
- Autoclimate control
- Cooled front seats. (Seats warm-up when you sit in them, they never get colder without help)
- Get rid of Bowtie on steering wheel. It's overkill. We know it's a Chevy. Put the Bowtie on the front and rear of car only..SS's should have SS on the front as standard (instead of Bowtie.
- Bring mail slot to all versions; functional in SS
- Make heritage grill standard but with better fitting materials
- Make HotWheel blue color available for non-special edition models
- More durable paint job
- Painted heritage stripes as an option instead of decal stripes
- Firebird/Trans Am Special Edition
- If not already standard, have smoked tail lights on all models
- Retain halo lights
- Front parking sensor
- Side mirrors with blind spot warning/tilt in reverse
- Lane change assist/adaptive cruise control
- Large trunk opening
- Keep blade spoiler option
- Make Magnetic ride suspension from ZL1 standard on SS
- Keep AFM (optional on stick or have mode to disable); let's face it -- fuel economy is becoming more important, so we need to make AFM available
- Bottomline: Let's forget about performance for a second: Chevy has Ford beat on visual design, so I'm not worried about how it's going to look. That said, Ford has Chevy beat on innovation. Look at all the safety and interior upgrades Ford has done over the last several years (blind spot, radar, adaptive cruise control, lane control, interior options and customization, etc). I want the new Camaro to be innovative, but at the end of the day, a C6 needs to be an American Muscle Car. It needs to be a Camaro. If Mustang is going with Euro-Styling..I want Camaro to scream 'Merica.

"Subtle 'bowtie' touches are fine, however not like it is on the Camaro. Everyone knows a Camaro is a Chevy, like they do with the Vettes. Lets lose some of the bowies. Not all, just some. Perhaps the old school badges, "Camaro by Chevrolet"."

- Oh and a website that actually allows you to display your customed/optioned Camaro with the options you selected. Camaro is a fast car, the website should be fast too.

I've seen references to Alpha+ for the CTS, I've seen the same reference for the 6th gen Camaro though no one seems to know where that info is originating. At this point until GM says something different, the sources I've heard say the 6th gen Camaro and ATS will share a chassis. Bear in mind that sharing the same chassis doesn't mean any of the dimensions have to be exactly the same. The end result should be an improvement in the physical footprint and a lower weight, many of the weight saving techniques used on the Alpha ATS will transfer directly to the 6th gen Camaro regardless of what chassis is used.
And I did appreciate your comments during that difficult time.

T-tops!
GM already knows people want less weight
Similar look to the 5th Gen
V8 with 425-450hp +, manual trans, RWD, I'm happy.

T-tops and less weight don't mix well, with t-tops you have to add structural rigidity that the roof cannot do with t-tops unless a lot of extra weight is added in. And you certainly don't want any of that weight in the t-top roof structure as that would cause a higher center of gravity (and not good for handling), so the likely result would be strengthening the lower part of the car to carry that load, much like you add weight and structure for a convertible.

...push start is cool, collision avoidance or lane proxitimity warning would be nice, some higher tech beyond the awesome rear camera backup system I look for. That backup camera is the cats meeow....sharp, crisp, and attention catching...

You know I have that feature (mirrors tilt down)on our SUV. It was a neat feature for the first 6 months until the wife kept using them for backing up in every situation and backed the truck into a tree!? I have it turned off now

Please don't add a bunch of stupid-driver aids. if you can't park without a back-up camera or mirrors that turn down, you probably shouldn't be driving in the first place.

Sorry. I know that opinion will hurt some people. But if you want all that stuff just to drive 5MPH in reverse, why the crap would anyone trust you with 400+HP to go forwards??

Oh thats right, people want lane-sensing too.. great. Lets dumb down the populace even more.

These 'options' are not driver-aids, they are driver band-aids.

Curb weight needs to be 3500lbs or lighter and honestly I'd prefer if GM went back to the more aerodynamic look of the 4th gen. The 5th gen looks bad ass, but I just don't dig the size and weight.

I'll agree with you on lane sensing, but anything that helps while trying to maneuver in tight parking areas so you don't curb your wheels or back into things hidden by blind spots seems like a plus to me. Parking by feel doesn't seem like a good option. I can drive 100 mph all day without hitch, but put a parking bumper in front of me, and look out splitter!

That reminds me, how about a front camera, too?

T-tops didn't hit the muscle car/ponycar segment until most of the performance had been bled out of them. An appearance-oriented bone thrown to the overall concepts of youthfulness and fun that didn't really replace what made that segment hot in the first place.

That is not a good association for some of us, Smokey and the Bandit notwithstanding.

Proximity door locks and push button start.

Clutch with linearly increasing force as it reaches the floor (vs. clutch pedal pressure going down as it reaches the floor with current car).

Adjustable lumbar support, even if it is manual adjustment.

Gauges not blocked by steering wheel, and temp gauge with numeric markings.

1LE with differential cooler.

Standard HID headlights with better beam pattern.

T-Tops didn't pass new safety regulations. Those aren't going to factory if you want them.

What the Camaro needs:
1. BETTER PAINT!!!!!! I understand it can't be lead paint, but better quality paint would be a huge improvement.
2. weight loss
3. A medium blue. Aqua blue didn't sell well, because not many people got a good look at it before it went out of production.
4. White dome light, headlights "non-rs" and fog lights. It's 2013 nobody wants those ugly color headlights.
5. better MPG. I shouldn't be get better 15 mpg especially with an intake and exhaust system in a v6. I live in a hilly area, but I rarely hit 3000 rpm let alone 2500 rpm.
6. better cup holder placement. This is for the manual guys.
7. A way to turn off AFM without voiding the warranty or paying $200+. Something like an "offroad" tune.
8. Better service departments and sales rep at dealerships, but that will take a lot more then one car generation to fix.
