I got a 2010 SS with stock suspension and pirelli pzero plus all seasons on it, most I did so far was .7Gs, think the car can do more then that but don't really have a spot to test reliably, I always flip to the lateral G mode when entering extra curvy roads though.

Are you saying there is a factory gmeter? If so where?

Not on stock, I retrofitted a color hud in my car from a late 5th gen (2014 I think).

Also as side note I was going through some curvy roads this weekend and remembered this thread, hit about 0.8Gs at around 40mph, which was on a "banked" (sagging) turn so not sure how that messed with the reading, but I think thats about the most the car wants to give with my setup.

yeah i dont have many places to test either just this one on ramp on my daily drive and i hit .78 on there but its banked a little too. on the less banked portion my tires start howling over .7

MY 2LT has a gmeter in the HUD display options, not sure about other models
maybe lesser models have it in the center dash display?

How involved is this retrofit? I have thought about doing this myself...

I would say it's not hard but it is just a lot of work, there are few good guides on there as well as service manual diagrams but I would say those give about a 95% picture, you still have to figure out the last 5% on your own. The funniest part for me was that the actual mounting for the unit was already there in the dash, you just have to insert some clips and use few screws and it just slots in (minus cutting the hole).

does a 1LE also come lowered, with wider track width, thicker roll bars, stiffer springs etc than lesser models like my 2LT as well as those bigger tires mentioned?

My buddies 2014 1LE stock is NOT lowered from the factory. If you want it lowered, you have to do it with either coilovers or springs. He showed me the build sheet for it and the suspension does have some Z28 items installed in it from the factory. So, yea, it will be stiffer and tighter on the road and track. And yes, the front wheels are 20x10 and the rears are 20x11.. Where the stock SS wheels front are 20x8, rears 20x9.. As well as the V6 Camaro's with the RS package on it.

I don't believe 1LE's came with parts from the Z/28(I could be wrong) but a bunch of goodies from the ZL1:

Changes to optimize the 1LE for track-day use include:
  • Larger, 27-mm solid front stabilizer bar, and 28-mm solid rear stabilizer bar for awesome body control
  • Higher-capacity rear-axle half shafts to help with increased horsepower levels of traction
  • Strut tower brace for improved steering and response
  • ZL1-inspired 20 x 10-inch front and 20 x 10-inch aluminum wheels
  • 285/35ZR20 Goodyear Eagle Supercar G:2 tires front and rear ( same as the front tires for ZL1 )
  • ZL1 wheel bearings, toe links and rear shock mounts for track performance
  • ZL1 high-capacity fuel pump and additional fuel pickups for fuel delivery during high-load cornering.

I forgot what parts they were, but he was excited when he showed me the sheet and pointed them out. They had the Z28 listed beside them in ( )..

Right on, I would like to see that list! They do share the 3.91's. My 1LE was a great car and super fun on the street but my Z is on another level, sure fun to drive!
