Controlling IAT
Hey guys new member here. I have a ss that I added a D1sc to andam currently using prochargers "stage 2; 3 core" intercooler. The thing is I don't think this intercooler is doing it's job too well.
(old slip) At 192 degrees, its the only thing keeping me out of the 10 second club. Anyone else have these kinds of results from pro chargers inter coolers? I'm planning on replacing the intercooler, but I don't know about getting one from procharger as they're extremely expensive. How colder you guys reckon meth will make IAT?? |

Meth will certainly help your IAT's. If it's of any use to you, I have an 18inch X 12inch 4.5 inch core AGP intercooler for sale. I don't know if it will work for you, but it just went up for sale tonight.

Yes it will help. At least it does for me with the Whipple.

AGP intercooler. Several procharger guys have upgraded. 50-100rwhp gains are not uncommon.

Are your headers wrapped? Might get a lot of negative feedback but I have a Procharger and wrapped my headers recently and my air intake temps went down by 85 degrees.

The pro chargers Intake really is in a shitty position right above the headers. wrapping them sounds good and I'll probably do that, but I'm gonna see if moving the intake behind the headlight helps out

It is in a shitty position but then again it's not like there's a ton of room in the bay. Wrapping helped me and other than some time it's a cheap and lasting fix, but like unreal said getting a better intercooler like agp will really help. My tuner told me to swap it since the Procharger ones are very restrictive after the swap he's seen an extra 2-3 lbs of boost with the same setup. It's in my plans to swap but there's a few things I want to do making this a non-priority at the moment.

I've never had 192 degree IATs, but on an 80 degree day I was seeing 145 degree IAT and with Meth it is now around 15 degrees under ambient.

I have the AGP intercooler and it helps, but when you consider over 100+ degrees incoming air over headers going into supercharger, and you will generate about 11 degrees for each pound of boost, not knowing what you boost is but lets just say its 20lbs for example, that would be 320 degrees if incoming air was only 100, it will most likely be much higher, then you can see the type of heat being generated, now the intercooler does a great job at fighting this off as you can see but it can only hold it off so long before it becomes completely saturated with heat itself. Meth would be a good choice, and running e85 would also help, and of course I think that wrapping the headers as Trob85 said may certainly be worth trying, I may do that myself, I currently pushing same temps at end of track with a AGP intercooler with a Vortech YSI@ 24lbs.

I must throw out that I'm running e85 also so that helped drop my temps those 85-90 degrees.

Paxton had the right idea though. You guys know if there's vendors on here willing to sell use the intake tube and filter for a paxton supercharger? |
