2019 Camaro Available with 7 speed Manual and Stays with the 8 Speed Auto?

CARB published the 2019 certification for what should be the LT1. The Camaro and Corvette are listed, and the M6, M7, and A8 are listed for the Camaro. This could also mean the LT1 Camaro won't be getting the A10. Nothing is guaranteed with CARB certifications. They are sometimes superseded with updates. But the Camaro is now certified for the M7.

For comparison, this is the 2018 CARB ceritifcation showing only the M6 and A8:

They would be better served to keep the 6 speed manual and add the 10 speed auto. I haven't seen many people asking for another overdrive in the manual.

I have a Z51 vette with a M7 transmission

6 gears were enough, the 7th really is marketing fluff. I agree that they would be better served putting the A10 and M6 in

Nothing wrong with the M7, just not needed

GM isn't going to leak the info via carb.

Look for the A10 at least in the SS, if not the entire 2019 Camaro line.

Starting to think the Z/28 is a pipe dream and a stripped down track beast Manual ZL1 might be coming with a M7. Maybe they are steering clear of the Z/28 moniker as they simply do not have a N/A motor that they want to use....

ZR1 motor with M7 manual in a Camaro ZL1 uber track edition car...

This would pretty much fit the spied ZL1-based mule. I'm pretty sure the Z/28 will be like every highest-performance-model and only release in the last 1-2 years of the 6th gen, so it should still be a bit away atm

1) This document is for the LT1 engine. If it was for all engines it would include the A10.
2) How would a 7 speed manual improve track performance?

2) may be with shorter ratio in the first 4 or 5 gears
And mpg improvement with the 6-7...

The extra gear is only an overdrive gear. Both the M6 and M7 will always have a 1:1 ratio in forth, so these transmissions for all intents and purposes are equivalent in the first 4 gears.

Pretty sure the M7 doesn’t fit the Alpha trans tunnel, which is why no alpha cars have it.

Agreed that was the reason it wasn't included in any Alpha car. A refresh certainly isn't going to fix that problem.

Right but the extra overdrive allows for much more aggressive gearing. Most M6 cars came with 3.42 or 3.73 depending on tire height and they really need 4.10 or 4.30 for better shift extension and keep the engine in it's power. The M7 allows this and keeps RPMs down while interstate cruising.
