Guess the mpg for the 3 engine choices.
I am embarrassed to say that my 6gen Camaro engine choice might be swayed by the estimated mpg ratings of the engines. Unfortunately I can't afford paying off two cars, so I will be most likely be daily driving it. Just curious to see what range we will be seeing from the engines, take your best guess.

Based on Physics (what a bi%^&tch) and current......
ATS 2.0T 21 31 3.6 18 28 I am sorry to inform all the folks out there, but you can't expect much more other than cylinder deactivation in the 3.6 will gain you 1 mpg. So for the Camaro 2.0T 21 32 3.6 19 30 6.2 16 26 All automatics The wild card is aero. As aero is 50% of the highway number we just don't know. Is it better than an ATS coupe or worse? We can surmise that the cross sectional area is worse due to the car being wider. The Cd is the issue. If it is hugely different than the ATS coupe then maybe a slight bit, tiny bit, better.

Accord v6 has cylinder deactivation and gets 34. I don't know it's drag or anything, but that seems pretty good. |

I hope the rating for the auto SS goes up more than 1 mpg considering the engine is more efficient, the transmission is more efficient, the car is lighter, and the car is more aerodynamic than the outgoing car.
The Corvette went from 26 mpg hwy to 29 mpg hwy with the LT1 & 8 speed despite gaining 100 pounds. I would love to see a similar bump for the Camaro up to 27-28 mpg highway for the automatic. |

I think in general, Manual transmission gets better gas mileage than autos.

EPA testing would disagree with you. Generally the MPG ratings for automatics are the same or higher for than manuals. With the 8 speeds, the difference can be 2-3 mpg for the same car and engine.

Turbo4
21 city, 33 highway V6 19* city, 31 highway manual 19 city, 30 highway auto SS 16 city, 26** man 16 city, 26 auto *if the LGX has stop/start in the Camaro I'm going to go with 20 city on the V6 ** assuming manual LT1 does not have AFM, if it does then 27 hwy Also, I predict that in the real world it will work out that it costs more to fuel the turbo4 than it will for the V6 on the assumption that a) highly boosted engines often underperform the EPA estimate worse than ones with low or no boost and b) premium will be recommended for the turbo4

And the reason I don't care about EPA testing, is because with a manual, they are told when to shift. They have exact shift points, and in real world driving, we don't have to follow that. Saying all that, the guy I quoted could have been posting what he thinks will be on the window sticker. in that case, ok.

Oh and there is the small matter that you are quoting 4 cylinder MPG. The Accord V6 is 32 Highway. http://automobiles.honda.com/tools/c...omptrim3=38906 Quote:

8 speed vs. 6 speed auto? About 1 to 1.5 Source documentation if you believe otherwise. And you can only quote a change from 6 speed to 8 speed. You can't include other powertrain or aero (body styling) changes.
