Ill probably get banned for saying this

Sooo I took a 2012 L99 SS for a test drive today.. my honest review? not impressed.. or should I say more so impressed with the LFX engine. Both my 2013 LFX RS and the 2012 L99 were automatic transmissions. in terms of acceleration I felt both were on even playing fields. I noticed the power band bald spot that I normally experience in 4th around 5,500 grand disappeared in the L99 and it seemed as if it could push through with more notable but not a significant difference in power through 5th and 6th gear. My over all assessment? If your going for an SS buy the Manual or put the difference in cost into bolt on engine modifications into a 2LT (RS preferably) either way you slice it you'll get the most bang for you buck out of either 5th gen Camaro experience. Don't believe me? I encourage each of you LFX owners to head out to your local dealer and put L99 to the test yourself (minus the 2LS of course).

Whatever it takes to justify in your mind you bought the right car…

I went to the dealer planning on buying a V6 and asked to test drive one. I liked it, but it didn't make me want to sign on the dotted line.

Just for hell of it I test drove an SS before leaving.

That was it. Done deal. Never considered the V6 again and signed the paperwork on the SS. If I hadn't test driven the SS, I may not be a Camaro owner.

If 'you' don't feel much difference, good for you, and the V6 was the right choice for 'you'...

Well they aren't on a level playing field.

but! Tune that L99 and get rid of torque management and I think that would change your mind.

Glad you are enjoying your car though.

Yea...not on even playing fields at all. My bolt on L99 runs a 12.2...and could probably do better with some more seat time. I'd like to see a bolt on LFX do that.

But at the end of the day, if you're happy with your car...that's all that matters.

Im confident bolt on's and tunes make the L99 a different animal all together. but from its stock configuration there isn't a great enough difference in the driving experience to justify the price. for the price difference you can buy engine mods on an up level 2LT enjoy all of the creature comforts the camaro has to offer with comparable perfomance especially if you don't have the drag strip in mind.

This!

Not sure why some have to constantly come up with reasons why the car they have is "better" than something else.

There is a reason Chevy makes different versions of the Camaro.

I drove a l99 car when I was looking and it felt sloppy/slow as hell. That turned me away from the camaros, and I bought something else.. Year later I drove a ls3 camaro, and ended up buying it.. Night and day difference stock l99 vs ls3

Since then ive driven a tune only l99 car, and was amazed at how much better it feels with a good tune. Still would perfer my manual trans, but stock auto vs tuned autos are COMPLETELY different

Maybe your right, maybe not. All I have to say is go drive a ZL1 and get back to us on what's a beast and what's not.

A ZL1 would be a one way ticket to prison for me lol. I guess what I mean to say is, whatever trim you have.. enjoy it. I don't think there is a such thing as a slow Camaro. A little secret for you guys (I used to own an Challenger RT) theres a reason why I love this car and joined the form.. just sayin.

Geez guys it's the OP opinion on what it felt like to him. No need for you auto guys to get defensive. You say to him "whatever makes you feel like you got the right car" while some of you just did with the l99

Every few weeks there is one...nice try tho. Normally a thread like this would have blown up to 7 pages by now. But I think most here don't really care about a V6ers diluted experience...either that or the title of this thread clearly makes you out to be the troll that you are.

Anyway, good for you on your purchase. I hope your statement helps you feel better. And I hope your inferiority complex has diminished a little. If you truly love your car and are truly satisfied then you wouldn't need to even think abut comparing it. But just so we're on the same page, and just to give you some troll food...stop lying to yourself. Your car is nowhere near the performance beast the L99 is...not even close. And I'm talking stock to stock.
