Curb Damage.

Today's day was a crappy one that's for sure.

Does anyone cost of repairing damage like this ? on the ZL1 Stock rims...
Around houston area or just generally speaking? To make it look OEM New.

What a Christmas coming this is now..

Okay. Stock black ZL1 rims here too.

Curb rashed both of the back wheels. One worse than yours, not deeper just went a little further around the wheel, and the other about the same.

First quote was from a company called AWRS(Alloy Wheel Repair Specialist). It's a franchise type deal. You can look and see if you have one in your area. My additional concern was the lack of paint coverage on the wheel from the factory. So we talked about that. He was going to remove the tires, repair the two wheels, powder coat all four wheels in a similar color and matte finish, re-mount and balance for $600. And I liked the fact that it would be powder coated.

The second place I talked to was local. It was a tire place that was family owned and operated and has a good reputation with our local car group. It's also a place that sells those overpriced donk wheels. The point to that is they know how to take care of wheels without damaging them. They were going to repair both wheels, paint all four with a matching paint(or whatever I pick) and remount and balance the tires for $800. I really liked these guys. Talked to the manager and the guy that would be doing the work. The manager guaranteed I'd be happy. So I need tires, when I go get them I'm going to get these guys to order me a set and do the wheel work at the same time, might save $50 in not paying extra to mount and balance and then mount and balance again when I get tires.

Take some very fine sandpaper and you should be able to fix most of the curb damage yourself.

I had some on my tires spend 30 minutes sanding it down by hand and then applying wax compound.

You might need to get some black primer to cover up some spots but with a little bit of patience and effort those rims should look like brand new again.

All the white is like scabby and rough. I wish my phone actually caught the details. But it's nasty. Also I prefer not to sand nothing and just need a good shop that won't charge me 350$ for each rim. I asked a mobile guy before on the old camaro that's what I got quoted. So how much does awr charge?

Contact Richey Auto Collision.

They have a guy who will make that wheel look like brand new. I'm suprised your sidewall is still in tact. I lost a tire that way but didn't hurt the wheel at all.

I would have thought all that brake dust on your wheels would have covered up that curb rash. Good luck with the fix. Back in the day, a friend of mine wanted WS6 wheels for his '95 Z28. He went dealer to dealer looking for rashed rims and found 4 of them. He took them home and wet sanded them until they looked like new. It can be done.

yeah no doubt it can be fixed just a pain in the ass and a waste of money that could be spent on something else on the car! me too im lowered and got a front splitter so no steep inclines, parking curbs and I also worry about rashing my rims = basically only in the middle of an empty parking lot!!
