Did you have to cut the new key, or did it fit as it came?

You will need to get the key cut. Your dealer may be able to do this (I found this based on the size of the dealer). Large dealerships have the key cutting tool. You will need to provide them the VIN, or you can use the one you have as a template. You can program the unit yourself.

I have purchased a couple FOB's off ebay that worked great. I got them cut at the dealer (did not charge me), then easily programmed both in about 5 min.

The one thing to consider now is that they may not cut the key since that style has been recalled. You may want to call them first.

You should still be able to get the "switchblade" style of key from the dealer (I just did). Just tell them that you opted out of the recall if there are any questions. They will have to cut it for you, though. If you have the original key code (for my 2013 it was a 5-digit alphanumeric) then it should be easy.
