I don't think so. Believe it or not, most people can't afford a car like this. When I was a kid my parents couldn't afford anything newer than 15 years old. And yes, they both worked very hard for what they could afford. Both with full time jobs. I'm very proud to be 22 and able to afford a $40,000 car. So I have to disagree that is setting the bar low. And as far as hertz is concerned, I would hope a company as large as them could afford to purchase these and rent them out. Hell, my dad still has a 97 Mazda 626 with 225,000 miles...

Younger people are usually not interested in nostalgic cars like the Camaro. Chevrolet has noticed this for sure and the 6th gen will start to appeal to a younger audience. Millennials like small cars with small 4 cylinder engines. For sure you will see one in a Camaro one of these days. Even so it is a losing cause. Younger people are moving to the city and riding bikes and renting sharable cars. The car market is shrinking.

It's fun... Only concern with younger folks is that a lot of times they don't respect the power or understand they aren't invincible. My rule for my son, whom I just got him his first car, was small tires and 4 cylinders. I got him a 2007 Camry with 8400 miles.

If I'd have had a Camaro SS at 18, I would probably have been stupid with it. Some kids at that age can handle it...and are responsible.

Here's my take on the age thing... depends on what's going on in your head. If you believe your old, you will be.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
― Hunter S. Thompson

And with that, it's time for a word from our favorite sponsor:

I see now how the years go buy fast! Had my 1st Camaro at 16, a 1968 RS 327 4 speed. Then bought the last year of Camaro, at age 43, a 2002 SS LE 35th, took another 10 years to pick up the 2013 ZL1! I can say that young or old the Camaro will appeal to all.

28 here and have always paid for my vehicles on my own and glad I did. There seems to be a sense of accomplishment when you are young and pay for something that someone usually buys when thy are older. My ex and I bought a brand new Lexus is250 when they first came out we were 22and 23. Got asked who was consigning for us when we were in finance waiting room with a couple in their 40s. We said no one just us politely as they were apparently getting the same vehicle. Her reply was must be nice as she rolled her eyes. We just smiled and sat there.

I got more hassle buying my evo8 than any other vehicle I've purchased. I was working with a buddy at the dealership, and me being 21 and young looking another salesman came by and said " one day you will be able to upgrade to one of these". I had already finished paperwork and it was being detailed. My buddy happened to come out and said your evo will be ready in a few. The salesman just stood there and had nothing to say

Maybe it's jealousy it maybe it's not. I dealt with a kid the other day at work who wrecked his second gt500 this year out by metro center. Think he was in his early 20s but just seemed like he didn't respect the car

I seem to get along with the older crowd as the younger crowd seems to compare and try to one up to where the older crowd just enjoys things and it doesn't matter what you have or did to you vehicle. It's a hobby not a competition. Until your on the track

Enough "old guy " comments.. age is a number and like anything.. you get better with age.. I am in better shape than I was when I was 20, when you get better your driving skills will improve and your young wife will look back and agree too (you youngsters might miss this comment).. you'll have much more knowledge, no longer think you know anything, lose the selfish ways and be much better as you will be more in touch with who you are... Thats confidence.. not arrogance..

The appreciation and respect for cars, work, life, women, will all improve...too

at 48... Im just getting started.. the only difference is .. I know what the hell I'm doing now.. at 20.. you still think you do

So as for age and cars... If you appreciate it.. you have the means to buy it.. just enjoy it and be glad others have the same appreciation so GM stopped making that ugly 90s to 2002 model and now have a body that has the highest resale and everybody wants one..

When I get behind the wheel.. I dont feel 20 again.. that would mean I would be fumbling around.. you guys know what I mean... I feel like I have earned every MPG I put behind me... its about paying dues.. no matter what age you are..
