Nice read for ZL1 owners

Here is a nice read I just found about the 5th gen ZL1. I hope someone hasn't already posted about it.

Thanks,
Affordability is one of the reasons I bought my 5th gen over a 6th gen at the time.
Thanks for sharing.

Great read... especially noting how the 5th Gen ZL1 is still an all-around more potent car than the Z28. When the Z28 came out all the magazine articles raved about it thus causing most to forget about the 580hp beast the ZL1 is. Don't get me wrong... the Z28 is great, but the ZL1 was still top dog even for the 5th generation. The best video showing this is the one of the Nürburgring when the ZL1 was approaching 170+ mph on the straights and the Z28 around 10 mph slower.

It was a good read. I wished he added a couple more sentences on the ease and cost and hp results of the bolt on's. In other words a thousand bucks on bolt ons + tune or $2k gets you over hellcat hp for far cheaper total cost including used car purchase price. I think that's where the 5th ZL1 really shines. Or whatabout reliability vs the Mustang and Hellcat. Missing. In the used car segment we don't usually buy or get real world payback with warranties. A Dodge breaking it's transmission or diff is something to consider. I won't repeat a Dodge purchase.

Our ZL1 is still relevant. Great power, outstanding handling, and drop dead good looks to boot. A clean example can park with any automobile.

The 5th Gen ZL1 is destined to become a legend.

  • The production of the Chevrolet Camaro is ending in January 2024, leading to a rush among enthusiasts to get their hands on the final models available
  • With limited availability, buying a used sixth generation Camaro or opting for a fifth-generation ZL1 can be a great alternative for those who can't get their hands on the final models.
Thank for sharing the MSN article. Both the 5th Gen and 6th Gen ZL1's are a reliable car from the factory, and a beast on both the street and the track.

If a used ZL1 comes without CPO, we would be wise to get a third-party pre-purchase inspection before buying any used ZL1's. There are definitely some bad apples in the used car market.

The article makes it sound like the 6th Gen Camaro is discontinued and that's the end of Camaro's story. I disagree. I'm hopeful that gas-powered V8 muscle cars including Camaro will return in the future, in a way better than ever before. But that might have to wait until some dark clouds dissipate. For now, we shall enjoy and take good care of these rare beasts.

Not in ICE, Mary dismantled that entire development team four years ago. Even Al Op was finally moved out of the C8 program to EV. So your dreams won’t be rewarded.

I got mine cause it is roomy on the inside, one of the biggest back seats, this allows me to cruise with my kids. I would not be able to have them in the 6th gen and be comfortable
