At any rate I already have the eliminator ordered for my 2024. Anything that prevents you from selecting any gear while the car is moving seems like a safety hazard to me. There are times in traffic where I want 2nd gear and I'm not going >20 and I don't want to develop a habit that forces me to leave the clutch engaged longer than necessary and is a detriment to other shifting situations. I get that people do these things and never want for the eliminator, but I'm not one of those people.

I've got the adapter, but I'm actually not in a hurry to install it. I desperately wanted it on the 2019, as I really never had to live it before. I was experienced with it from installing it on the 90's Corvettes when I worked at performance shops, but the 2019 was my first manual Camaro and it was driving me crazy especially when I would start from a light on an uphill grade and it wanted me to go to 4th and lug the hell out of the motor. But the C7 I traded in with the 7M actually got me used to skip shifting from the standpoint of the gear ratios were much closer to each other, so it was easy to go from 1st to 3rd or even 4th. The other day as I was running errands, I noticed the Skip Shift come on the display, but without even thinking about it, I went from 1st to 3rd so naturally several times, now I'm wondering if I'll even need it. FWIW

not true, unfortunately. It is random. It will skip me into 4th when I am turning a corner from a stopped red light, after I back out of my drive and start to go. I am not a lead foot hot rod kid, so I do it hammer it on go

Congratulations. I I had a V8 m6 I would get sse asap. I know GM has been using skip shift many years on the V8 manual, always thought it was dangerous, crazy.

Was it on the driver side or the passenger side of the transmission? Mine was on the passenger side with very short wiring, almost tight to the top of the tunnel, which made it really tough to install.

Drivers, all the way up by floor pan. Above a solenoid (I can’t remember off hand which). My buddy manages a tire shop. Took it in there and put it on a lift w a shallow pit. Made it pretty easy w a hook tool to pop out. Took him longer to swap on my black LPO lug nuts and locks. Funny thing is he said “why you putting lock on the wheels?” I said huh? He goes “No thief is gonna look at this car and only take the wheels. The whole car will be gone”. 🤣

In case the instructions Chevy sent with your locking lug nuts got lost, they need to be retorqued at only 25 miles.

While the 6.2l mill has glorious torque, it also has glorious HP. It's possible someone wants to drive in the style of a diesel engine and short shift every gear. That's not me for sure, loving to go well past 20mph in 1st gear.

If someone experiences lag it's not really because of skip shifting, it's because of short shifting. Different driving styles might need remedial intervention. Otherwise, skip to 4 from 1 is simply never an issue for many.

I’m about to purchase the sse, and I’m wondering if there are different companies that produce it. Meaning, is there one that people recommend over another, for quality, etc…or is there just one company that makes them? I searched for this answer, and didn’t see this mentioned or asked. Thank anyone in advance for info on this!

I've had my 2023 for almost a year now. I installed the skip shift within a week of purchase. Not only is the skip shift annoying, it's a safety issue that distracts drivers who get locked out by the solenoid. When this occurs it takes my attention away from driving when I try to figure out WTF is happening regarding not being able to shift!

I purchased the Michigan motorsport CAGS eliminator for less than $15 on Amazon. All that was necessary was a 6" rise (to get under the car) and a 10" screwdriver to pop the locking tab on the CAGS transmission wire. The "eliminator" has both male and female hook-ups that make for easy installation. Basically "eliminators" are shy the wire that actuates the solenoid that blocks shifts. You'll still get the message to skip shift, but the solenoid can't actuate due to the missing wire.

I would have to say that the hardest part with the install was getting the wire plugged back into the transmission due to the angle and high location on the trans. The remedy was easy though...just bend the eliminator plug-in wire to the right angle, put it to where it's started into the receiving plug on the transmission and then push it into place with the 10" screw driver until you hear the wire lock click, and viola you're done!

It is well worth the short amount of time it takes to install. I still get the skip shift message occasionally, but I ignore it and shift as I like without being locked out. I love it and recommend taking the time to install it. You won't regret it.
