Skip Shift Eliminator

Plan on installing an SSE tonight. Is it really as easy as plug an play, or are there some software/coding updates needed before driving it?

Just don't plug it into the reverse lock out, same style plug on the tranny, the one you need is higher up

"higher up" meaning closer to floor pan, or closer to engine?
Any pics on correct and incorrect?
Thanks for the advice

It's up near the floorpan. I had to use a long screwdriver to help disconnect/reconnect the plug because my hands didn't fit. Other than that, it's very simple. Takes longer to get the car on the ramps or jackstands than it does to install the SSE.

It depends how the clip of the original plug is oriented. In my case it was actually facing upward, which took this from a 5 min process to more like 30 min. What saved my ass was having a 90 degree pliers because my hand could not fit in that space. I was able to unclip it with the pliers by leveraging it against the case of the transmission and expanding the pliers. I used a separate screwdriver to loosen and unplug it once the clip was undone.

I'd also recommend getting the version of this which has the cable attached rather than than just the plug separated from the female side. It makes it easier to work with and zip tie the harness. Good luck.

Normally a lift makes everything easier, but this job is just a arms length up, and straight up. So laying on your back and reaching straight out in front of you is probably "ergonomically" better. Just a PIA narrow spot. Good lighting and a bevy of tools and you'll be fine!

The instructions that came with my skip shift say it installs on the driver’s side of the transmission, but the module to switch out and the reverse module were both on the passenger side. What do your instructions say?

The undeniable best skip-shift eliminator is simply the driver's right foot. Shift at 20mph+, and defeat the force skip.

Next best is the driver's right hand, either by shifting to 3rd gear, or preferably by slightly entering the lateral pathway to gears 3-4 and shifting to 2nd.

Pick any of these 3, practice 30 times to develop a new habit, and forget that 1-4 forced shifting even exists.
