This is driving me crazy

Reduced engine power....bla bla bla. Thought it was a plug wire issue and it still may be. After pulling over, I can try to crank it over and get nothing for a few minutes. Not even a click. The car is just pissed off for a bit. After that, it fires right up and everything is wonderful.

If I just rape the car, by the top of third gear I get the message on the display. It is like some kind of spark issue because of intense heat that is pissing off the computer or something.

Some of you guys are running a more extreme setup than me. I am hoping someone has seen this before.

Thanks

Don't know what your setup is but I'm guessing blower. Probly just the tune which points at the MAF high frequency or MAP/MAF sencing code.

Twin turbo. I'll check into it. Thanks for the response.

As Slowhawk said,
Really need to know the details of your set up, could be a MAF/MAP rationality check (tune related) or a component problem.

Yes, looking at things, I'm maxing out the Maf. Going to tune again this weekend. Thanks again for getting my brain heading in the right direction. When talking to my buddy, he built the car for the guy I was playing with on the way home today. It was an 800 plus hp 572 BB build in a tubbed 69 Camaro. I had 6 to 8 lenghts on him when it shut down. lol

Stock cal is at around 14500Hz = around 1000 g/s, unless the MAF is in a small tube, or has poor air presentation, it should not be maxed on frequency.

Graham.

I'm not claiming to know what's wrong but I had a 1989 Z-24 that was doing the exact same thing and the ECM had to be replaced...thankfully it was still under warranty. It cost about $550 back then..who knows how much one would be today.

Graham.
It has been relocated. It is a very large tube. I actually had this happen on the dyno while recording. I'm going to go a different direction on the tune this weekend. If it does not work, I'll be back to asking you guys for help again and I will be able to provide more info. I have pretty much eliminated the plug wire scenario.

Thank you guys again.

Was the wiring harness and all down near the turbos heat shielded?there is a pretty substantial harness running near them on the passenger side... Could be something in there...
