This thread went a completely different direction.
So here I'll say it for everyone doubting. Camaro SHOULD absolutely be chasing BMW right now with this car. If I spend 50 to 60 K on a ZL1, I want it stomp the crap out of the M4. Hopefully in time my other dream comes true and GM gives Chevy an Alpha based sedan to compete with the M3. Not suggesting the Camaro become a luxury car. The M3/4 isn't either. But the Camaro should be able to go toe to toe with the M4 and the latest Car and Driver Drivers car went to the Camaro. Now just get the interior at a reasonable level, improve all the things I've been suggesting, trunk access, visibility (looks better already),current features and seats (etc.) and the only reason to buy a BMW would be the same reasons you want a Cadillac. GM has to start recognizing this too. Today they don't but it sounds like Cadillac is coming around. And the reason the 4th gen failed was simple. Look at the volumes of the base car. That is what tanked. V8 sales held reasonably well through the entire 4th gen. But in the end as a base stylish coupe that would interest people not wanting an SS/Z28 it sucked and those volumes tanked. A hatchback with no trunk space, no rear seats and difficult at best ingress/egress. The coupe market is much smaller than it has been historically. And the winner in this segment today isn't the one with the best V8 car, it's going to be the one with the best car period. That is what generates the ability to continue to put money into the car and keep it great. And although I had hoped for a greater departure from the Gen5 shape and proportions, which is now almost cartoonish to me (although I'd still own one if I wanted a coupe NOW), I think with the Camo off and a great interior this car can be as big a leap forward as the Gen5 was back in 2009.

Nope, not disappointed at all. In fact with every new picture and detail it makes more anxious about my S550 5.0 purchase. However the outcome I won't be trading in my 5.0 for the new Camaro in the first year. I'd give it at least a couple years to see if GM has got there quality kinks worked out yet. I honestly hope they do soon, I know every manufacturer has it's recalls and all (especially with the airbags this year) but I hope this large recall trend of GM's is over for a little while.

Don't understand how it went this way.. It's funny how people are so upset over a product that hasn't been fully revealed.. The two best cars I ever owned in my life are sitting in garage (2012 SS & 2014 RS)... And I've owned a lot of cars.. I'm confident in GM and their direction, so if the 6th Gen is a highly evolved 5th Gen, then I'm on board!!!

Personally, I'm really excited. We've had a peak at some LEDs and we've heard the sound of a what is most likely a LT1 V8. After I got my 2LT paid off I've been saving for a 2016 2SS.

If what they arrive at, in terms of evolutionary styling, looks like a Scion tC front merged with a Mitsubishi Lancer rear, seemingly just to appease the import buyers, then maybe they need to step back and take a different approach altogether.

Im disappointed that it looks very similar to the current model.
I was most likely going to bet a new model, but now that ive seen the prototypes, and rendered prototypes, my thoughts are there is no point if the car is nearly the same. even if it does end up being 200 lbs lighter, I doubt ill buy a new model Camaro. I would be better off staying with my modded 10 model, or going to a 12 or 13 zl1.

I have a feeling the weight loss isn't going to be that significant or impressive, what GM will do is "up" the HP so it doesn't seem that bad when the 6th Gen SS weighs in at 3,810lbs ........ they will throw in another 20HP to misdirect the minimal weight loss ... I still have a feeling it's going to be a heavy one ...
