Damaged engine
I need some answers into what I can do with my car. A mechanic told me tha one of my cylinders might be damaged because when I step on the gas it has a soft knocking and causes the car to over heat.

Depends on condition of car. Low miles and cherry, find a replacement engine. Played out, sell it as is for someone to build a race car.
Also, the diagnosis is pretty vague. Ask specifically what repair is needed... block destroyed? Is the problem in a head? Sometimes they forget engines are repairable, it's a lost art. I bought an LS1 once at scrap price of next to nothing. All the guy said was the mechanic said it was blown up. On tear down, it had a couple bent pushrods and valves... super easy refresh, didn't even touch the short block. A good tech will tell you exactly what is wrong, and the options to repair. |

I would get a second opinion on that. You might have a batch of bad gas.
