Got thoroughly spanked by a Mustang - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Folks I have a confession. Today I was driving home from a date with my wife and a Mustang merged off the highway behind us. We started discussing why ANYONE would want a Mustang over a Camaro when this guy whizzed, and I mean WHIZZED past me. I saw him coming behind me in the rearview but before I could even think about downshifting or stepping on it (not that I would have anyway, since I firmly do not believe in the illegal practice of street racing), he was GONE.

I'm driving the V6 (1LS) 6MT and am generally an easy going guy who really knows nothing about fast driving/super quick acceleration - just enjoy cruising around in the Camaro, taking off reasonably fast & making good use of the great pickup compared to my former car which was a Jetta (swapped them out about a month ago). The Mustang was, I'm pretty sure, one of the newer 5.0s - but seriously, it was freaking QUICK.

Anyway, I got embarrassed in front of the wife, AND got beaten by a 'Stang... Lol. I've seriously got to take this thing out to the track and learn how to make it move, then bring a non-5.0 Mustang out there for a fair match and to somehow reclaim my honor. Goodness.

Most of those guys know the difference between a V6 and a V8 especially when they don't see SS on the rear.Thats like an SS blowing by a V6 mustang.I say run with something thats a challenge,what an ass.

If it was me i woulda kicked my 300lb wife out the moving car and hit the gas and retained my manhood. She woulda understood im sure.

probably just another douche. Doesn't matter what size your engine is, just plain stupid, dangerous and criminal to race on a street. I get that from time to time, the last was an Audi S5 that took off like a rocket just because I pulled up. Ive had some mods done so douche drivers hear my LTH and exhaust (SW ZL1 retro catless) and think I always race. Nope.

At 500hp, I am not the fastest thing out there but I am no sloth either but I am not about to let me ego override judgement...

They also have stock tri y shorty headers that flow great and they are high revving motors where they shine

Yes, Ford got smart and put a proper engine into the stang. That 4.6 was a horrible engine. Of course they had to up the game when Chevy released the Camaro, 312hp wasn't going to win over many to Chevy's 426/400hp...

Don't feel bad, Ford finally dropped in one hell of a motor, but racing a V6 was pretty pointless.
