IMO - and this is JUST my personal opinion:
1) open face was "certified" for air bag first.
2) Scca disallowed closed face but this was over turned when FIA allowed them. NB I'd like to know WHY closed face were banned even earlier on.
3) I'd rather air bag hits my face directly as per design vs hitting a helmet which will then transfer forces to one's head/neck.
4) assuming I am reading FIA test results properly then compression forces on a neck are much higher with closed. I'd rather bash my face vs my neck.
5) visibility and cooling are superior in open.
BUT: these are my personal views ONLY for MY head. Use your own r+d and and views for YOURS
