What if there is a gap between 5 and 6?
I mean, has it been confirmed that the 6th gen will start in 2016? There was a huge gap between 4 and 5, what about now?

Let's go Rangers!

There was a stop in production between 4 and 5, there is no stop here and will be no gap.
So I am not sure what you are talking about? |

GM is already working on the 8th gen Corvette, so you can bet they've been working on this for a long while.
I don't think there will be any gaps...and with the production plants moving from Oshawa to Lansing there will be no downtime for re-tooling.

Is 85,000 units [est] a year considered strong? Seriously I don't know what is considered a profitable model for an auto manufacturer.

Depends on the vehicle line, 85k units/year for a full size truck is awful but for a sports coupe like Camaro is pretty good. Plus Camaro basically prints money for GM at this point.

What if they build them at the same time ? And no gap at all. With the 6th gen in a new location and new platform it's basically a new model. So GM can start production of 6th when ready, while there cranking out 5th gens non stop.they can build at same time without issue work out 6th gen bugs while the canada factory rocks on . I see no reason the corporate bean counters would stop all production , it makes no business sense.

The basis for the question is based on the time when the Camaro model was literally killed off. There will be no "gaps" because they're not stopping production.

I'm curious how much better is the Gen 5 selling vs the Gen 4? Remember you have to combine the Camaro and Firebird for Gen 4.

It's not even a comparison. In 2001, the last time I bought a new Camaro only around 20,000 were sold.

The only production numbers I could find for 2002 were 42,098 for Camaro and 30,690 for Firebird, That's a combined total of 72,780. Not too far from the mid 80K's the Gen 5 is selling. Just an observation.
