Deep Scratch Problem, Help please!

Unfortunatley I woke up one morning and it looked as though someone tried to break into my car via the key whole. The cover was partially off (thankfully didn't crack) and beneath it and slightly past it is a very deep scratch. (See Pictures)

I was wondering what should I do with this? I do not want it to cause rust. What is the best scratch filler and touch up paint to use in this situation?

Go to the dealership they offer touch up paint that will be the same paint code that your car was painted with. I would lightly wet sand the area and use the touch up paint, or you can have the door repainted through your insurance company and pay your deductible. The touch up paint will hide the scratch and prevent it from rusting. Its just a minor scratch, but if your like me, and just knowing its there will bother me till I repaint the door. A good painter can repaint just that area but will have to clear the entire door.FYI Good luck!

You will have better results with the DCC as a novice.
If you know how to wet sand then you can go the other way as suggested.

Agreed. I'll never understand people advising others to wetsand. If the OP had any business wet sanding, he wouldn't have to ask the question.

That's not a knock on you OP, just in general.

Call the dealership or a Chevy dealership in your area and ask them who they use for their preowned cars touch up work. We have a company in Chicago called carnica. Many of these places have mobile services and shops that you can bring your camaro to. This is all they do and they do excellent work.

This is an alternative I would investigate prior to purchasing a do it yourself kit or having the entire door repainted.

I have a few rock chips on the front of my car and I will be using Carnica to touch them up prior to doing some film protection that I should have done the day I bought my car.

Yes. The touch up pens at AP stores glob up easily and aren't easy to work with.
DCC has great paint applicators and the access paint is easily removed with the solution they include in their kits.
For a DIY repair, it can't be beat.

I want to state I have no affiliation with Dr. ColorChip. I own a Detailing company and have used it several times.
That being stated, I have noticed very good paint matches with DCC.
As far as going over a previous repair, I would remove the old paint, clean the area with paint thinner/ wax grease remover and apply DCC.
You will have a longer lasting repair this way.
