One of the best engine bays I've seen in a ZL1 or Camaro. That LME intake is amazing but Big $$$$

We took our "VR1100" 6th Gen ZL1 and managed several 9.5x@152mph passes on factory 20" wheels with Mickey Thompson Drag Radials.... There is another two to three tenths left in this combo, but we ran out of time and were taking "baby steps" with this new A10 transmission....
Shakedown was at the "House of Hook" in South Carolina yesterday. Had some issues on and off with the crank sensor and tach signal. Last pass we had to lift at about 1100ft and coasted to 132mph and a 9.40's pass. Still some tuning left, but it will easily run 9.20's on 20-inch DR's. This also should be the quickest/fastest 6th Gen ZL1 in the country... More to come!!!! Last edited by aka Reckless; 08-02-2017 at 06:37 PM. |

A few photos of the air-to-water setup that tucks nicely into the front bumper

How much more power does it take to drop to 8.9 when already going 9.5? The car is already a couple hundred more hp than the demon but not that much lower in et. Lot more mph though. What do u think is holding it back from a 8.9x run?

The Demon was run on race gas, on a drag pack, stripped down with the suspension tweaked for the 1/4 mile. Power is only a tiny bit of the equation when getting a car down the strip. Things get much more difficult as you get into the sub 10 second range. Put the Vengeance car on a proper drag pack with a solid trans tune and race gas with all the seats and extra crap yanked and there is probably another .5 in it if not more. DA also has a lot to do with ET and mph. No where that I know of right now is going to see DA under 2K if not 2,500. The Demon I believe also has a trick set up to launch the Auto at 4K or something like that. All you are going to get out of the A10 converter is possibly 2K. Slap a Circle D 4C in the ZL1 and things are going to get silly. Getting this car in the 8's shouldn't be hard at all when it is dialed in with good weather.

Correct. This is a stock suspension and the only thing changed was addition of drag radials, but still a 20-inch wheel, so short sidewalls. I'll have to see what the 60-foot times were like.
