Mine wasn't too bad with headers either. As long as you keep your foot out of it there's no problem. The volume increase with the cam was unexpected for me.

I try and talk to them every now and then to make sure they aren't turning on me haha. If any of them ever complains I'll try a res-x in the center and go from there. So far just trying not to have it out when it's quiet time has kept them happy enough!

Hey brother, quick question: I have the same set up as you and I plan on buying Solo Axle back with J Pipes. Honestly, how bad does it sound when AFM kicks in?

Very commendable. I really don't know why some people think it's their right to torment their neighbors with loud exhaust. Obviously, you make the effort to respect the relative peace & quiet they expect. Good man!

Well, I unplugged my Range after I had the Solos installed for a week or so, just to see what the AFM sounded like. It was better than with the stock mufflers, but it still sounded like a fat old man farting... Not good.

Straight pipe exhaust/open headers is the greatest sound there is, especially running through the rpm range! That being said, it is not always enjoyable, i.e. neighbors, police, trying to talk, trying to think etc. There maybe a solution coming out soon. There's a design in the works, that will give you pure straight pipe performance and sound, while also giving you the option of a great sounding, free flowing, straight through, muffled exhaust, that is neighbor and police friendly. It's got a proprietary valve design, that's improves greatly on the butterfly designs currently on the market.

Curious about this as well...

After listening to seemingly millions of you-tube exhaust vids, I installed a Corsa catback and couldn't be happier with it.

Start with Solo Axle Back J-Pipes and you will not be disappointed. I've had them on my L99 for 3 years now.
No tune, no AFM noise or drone at any RPM.

I have the Stainless Works 3 inch retro chambered catback, if you don't plan on doing long tubes or going catless I don't think you will find a better sounding exhaust for the L99. Did extensive research before going SW. best decision I have made for my SS. sounds deep and bad ass IMO. get tons of compliments. called several companies that sell multiple brands and had several recommend SW as there favorite. Maryland Speed is where I got mine, give Brandon a call, he will usually beat his own low site price. you will not be disappointed!
