What's behind the dashboard of an SS?

I would like to create a slot that is finger-print activated in the dashboard. It would need to fit a box with the following dimensions: 10 inches deep, 5 inches wide and 2 inches in height. The idea would be to have a box on rails that would slide in and out.

How would I find out what is behind the dash. Any blueprints or schematics of what is back there?

I would say just take it apart and find out for yourself, there are a few threads around here talking about how to take apart a dash.

I don't think you will find enough room behind the dash for something 10" deep.

I'm guessing you're wanting to do this for a gun given the dimensions and the finger print scanner.

your best bet is to convert the glove box, imo.

I've had the dash out. You're not gonna find a 10" deep space.

Just to give you an idea. If you open either door, you'll see a black panel on the side of the dash where the vent is. Those pop off. If you pop one off you can look straight into the dash. The only gap is where the passenger airbag deploys.

You're better off putting a lockbox under the seat. I've seen some 4-button sequence lock boxes that are designed just for this purpose. Padded and everything.

Guys! Need your help fast. I can't get those tabs of the dashboard out that connect to the 4 black ports on the firewall. Please help! Does anyone know how to properly take them out?
