Despite their engineering marvels, BMW's are sadly given this double standard because of; as this study clearly reveals, idiot drivers. The stigma is particularly prevalent here in Miami since every popped-collar douchebag with a off center baseball hat and Miami Heat plate owns one and drives like how he looks - stupid. It's sad because the shitty drivers actually affect my respect for what are otherwise amazing cars with a rich performance heritage.
Kudos to the BMW drivers who actually respect the cars and therefore others on the road. Most of the douchebags I just described are poseurs who bought the car for the status. |

The study showed that all high end buyers are jerks, but BMW's are the jerkiest. I always slow to let pedestrians start crossing, jumping curbs to get them is hard on the tires.

There's a lot. Of awful drivers out there wish they would make it way more difficult to get a drivers license. Test people over the age of 70 every year.

Interesting article. In my opinion, BMW drivers are only 2 types of people. They are either loyal car enthusiasts or people who bought a BMW simply for the status of owning one. The enthusiasts are mostly the M-series owners and the "status" owners are through the entire BMW lineup. The high status feel of ownership makes people drive reckless sometimes. Gotta be honest though....we have fellow Camaro owners that act this way too.
 I also didn't know a Prius was a "high-status" car...
