Hill assist as handicapped me more than helped me in my opinion. It would be great if just a bit more subtle.

Did anyone think to use the E brake it's real easy just to hold the button on the E brake and pull the handle.

Yep, been doing it for many many years. E brake = hill assist

if it's at a traffic light you just wait till it goes yellow, then the second it turns red peel off. that always gets them

So have I over the last 20 some years, unfortunately HSA has taken that skill and thrown it right out the window for us. I really can't believe there are people that actually appreciate HSA. I can't see how it would even help a beginner and I would never want to learn on a car with it. The minute you get into a car without it then I think you will be screwed.

There really is no need. Hold car on handbrake, then to set off, feed in the gas, release the clutch, and as that starts to bite, release the handbrake. It isn't rocket science, assuming you are furnished with two hands, feet, and a brain.

The same can be said for backup sensors and rear view cameras.

Luckily, hill assist is just software that was added to the ABS and Stability controls you already pay for, so it doesn't add to the cost of the car like backup nannies that replace driver skill and attention.

I encountered this yesterday when I brought my car home from the dealer and in my driveway which has a mild slope and I was like WTH it was a little annoying but it wasn't that bad,I have not driven a manual in 12yrs since my T/T driving days and the last car I had with manual was 15yrs ago,but the car is amazing just like all have been saying

People seem to give you a bit more room if you do the following.
while a car is approaching you take your foot off the brake a roll back a little, they tend to stop earlier and not ride up your a$$.

it works most of the time.

But you do have the ability to either turn ST off completely or in some cases move the point at which it intervenes further away from normal driving. Makes no sense that they didn't follow the same logic with HSA.

It's nice to be able to roll back intentionally.

They may not even be sure it wasn't themselves creeping forward against their own brakes not being applied hard enough.
