New Ride!
After years of planning, research, blood, sweat, and tears, I finally found my new sports car!
Picked up this awesome 2009 Mercedes C63 AMG. This thing is loaded with every add-on you can get, and is an AMG with the additional AMG package. I still have the Camaro, but I am driving it less and less. Every time I get in the Camaro now, I can't help but think: "huh... this stereo kinda sucks" "These 'leather' seats have no lumbars or quality" "These brakes are like stopping a boat" Even after all the work I have done on the Camaro, this Mercedes still out performs it in every way. The engine sounds amazing too. The only real plus the Camaro has is its straight line speed, which again took a lot of work. However, I just added a Renntech tune this AMG, so I am looking forward to lining them up again. Going to have to find more power for the Camaro to justify keeping this thing.

I am sure that Mercedes is great on the road but man that Camaro looks sharp!!! Very mean too! Love both cars! You are a lucky man.

Mercedes makes a very nicely engineered car. I am sure the Mercedes cost more than the Camaro if both new at the same time and the service will cost you with most parts imported. A more costly car should drive, stop and sound better.
Both are great cars in their price range.

The single biggest issue you need to be aware of is the headbolt issue on 2008 to mid 2010 C63’s. This is a problem where the headbolts fail and causes a loss of coolant that ultimately causes an engine to hydrolock and fail. Many owners have reported this problem on the forums and paid out of pocket costs upwards of $20k if no longer under warranty.
http://www.secretentourage.com/lifes...-buyers-guide/ Good luck. Find a good indy Mercedes shop. I'd keep the Camaro for when you meed to save up for a service job. JK, I do miss my Bimmer (but not the service rates).

Nice addition to your driveway, even though I'm not a Mercedes guy. I have to say I've never heard anyone complain about the brakes on an SS.
Your Camaro still looks meaner in every way.

I owned a 2007 CLS63 AMG once.
Two things I take from the ownership other than the car was a blast to drive. 1- the AMGs tank in price very fast. Mine almost depreciated $10k in one year. 2- If you have no extended warranty, be prepared to fork out some bucks on the stupidest stuff. A weld point came loose in my oil pan. Mercedes refused to cover it. $ 400 for an oil pan. |

The Benz new had a sticker of $74k.
I picked it up used with 36k miles for $38k... So about what my Camaro was new. To me the price justifies the performance, and if you saw the car in person, you would be stunned at how good it looks. This used Mercedes at 40k miles now looks just as good as my Camaro I bought new and have babied to 20k miles. To me its about what I'm paying in performance per dollar. This car costs twice as much new, and its twice the performance. Still is. And if you felt these brakes, you would complain about the Camaros lol. I did get an extended warranty. Had a few minor issues that were quickly touched up. Interesting info on the headbolts. Had not seen that on the Mercedes forums. I will keep an eye out. I already did add a little more coolant recently in my routine checks, now I will play closer attention.

Thats a sweet ride. Always love these AMGs, but the insane repair and maintenance bill make me stay away from them. Anyways congrats OP, have fun with them.

I'm sure the Merc. is beautiful inside and drives like a dream. But honestly, it looks like a family sedan. It, in no way, has the appeal of a Gen 5 Camaro, or, I'm quite sure, the power, even in stock SS mode. Sure, it stops like a dream and all, but it should for almost twice the price. For me, there's nothing like driving around in my convertible SS manual with 450 horses ready to roll.
