Here we go; new Mustang with Eco 4 weighs in at 3,663 lbs.

Discuss...

The Gen6 Camaro may just undercut the new Mustang on weight. Going with the different base platform should save at least 200 pounds, so my guess is the new Camaro will either achieve weight parity, or be lighter than the equivalent Mustang...

This makes the 5Gen not seem all that heavy.

GM has a huge opportunity for the 6th generation. If they can keep the weight down and meet, or undercut, the Mustang, that would be a massive win due to the power and torque advantage of the LT1.

I have a friend who runs a large excavation company. ALL of his pickup trucks are 2WD, with Blizzaks mounted November through March, that traverse through mud AND snow. Swears by them, NOT at them.

Blizzaks, BTW, have 2 or 3 different tread patterns for different road conditions. Noise (or quietness) is somewhat different for each.

Loaded Automatic with Premium Package and Performance Package, so at the top of the scales.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ic-test-review

Car and Driver also reported Base EB 6-Speed Curb as 3517 (5 more than Automatic?). How many actually show up at that weight will be interesting to see.

http://blog.caranddriver.com/dont-wo...s-are-minimal/

As for the GT's lower power level, currently, a switch to DI would "adjust" that and, apparently, that's a change that is close at hand (by MY '16 or '17).

Yes and it's 131 lbs. more than a base Eco 4. A GT is 3,705 base. Add 131 lbs. to the GT and you have 3,836, pretty close to a 5Gen SS.

I bet he has locked diffs too. Only chance with 2wd.

G80 FTW! Won't look at a Ford or Ram or Tundra or Nissan.

It's funny how their chatter about Gen 5 weight has subsided, isn't it?

Now they just want to see the Gen 6 Camaro stay the same weight as the Gen 5, and then (they think) Camaro fans will be so disappointed. I'm afraid the disappointment will be theirs.
