So I've had my M6 for a few months and have logged 9000 miles. I've owned manual vehicles in the past but just had something come up I was curious about. Basically, when depressing the clutch I use a sharp full leg motion to push it to the floor. While releasing the clutch, I do let it slide just a bit under my shoe, which allows for a much smoother release than a full leg lift. I noticed the rubber pedal is wearing down... Easily replaceable, just curious if anyone had thoughts, comments, etc. One other thing for clarification, on the release, I'm not allowing it to slide slowly enough for it to "ride the clutch," simply enough play under my shoe for it to be a smooth transition from engaged to disengaged. Anyone else had this issue? Might be time for metal pedals!

As long as your shifting smoothly, go for whatever works. +1 on the aluminum pedals though

I would expect pedals to wear eventually, but that seems excessive for such a new car. Hopefully they'll take notice and improve the material.

Fully release the clutch. Don't "side step" and let the clutch pedal slide out from under your shoe and flop back to the top of its travel even if the clutch is already completely past its grab point.

I have only ever owned manual transmission cars and on everyone from my very first Oldmobile Cutlass Supreme International series to this one the clutch pedal always wears faster than the others. At 9000 miles that pedal looks to need new rubber pads. I don't think it is your pedal action that is to blame, I just think it is the nature of the beast.

I will also agree that the aluminum pedals do last longer. They still wear over time but will usually last about 3 or 4 years before they look terrible and need replaced.

That's a ton of wear. I have a little over 10k miles on mine after 4 months and the rubber still looks almost new. Not quite as new as the rubber on brake pedal, but I don't use that much.

Be careful with the aluminum pedals if the soles of your shoes are wet. I've found that it can be quite easy to have your left foot accidentally slide off the clutch pedal under those conditions. Rubber pedals might not look so cool, but they do afford you better grip with less chance of sliding off when you're not expecting to!

these should help as long as you aren't wearing slippery dress shoes like loafers or whatever.
