A Glimmer of Hope? Potential Z28 spy shot

"Future Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Reportedly Spied, But Something Doesn't Add Up - autoevolution" https://www.autoevolution.com/news/f...up-167890.html

I have no comment, but figured I should share this with you all. If it was posted already, my apologies -- I missed it then.

What would a Z28 accomplish? The ZLE is already a track monster both straight and turns. And you already have a SS-E which is also badass in its own right.

Here is a quick Google Translate from the Instagram post:

Exclusive news: For the first time in a long time, a new Camaro prototype has been spotted. In addition to the ZL1 rims, the new rear spoiler, which has not yet been featured on the Camaro, is particularly interesting. Could this be a new Z / 28 that could use the 5.5l flatplane V8 from the C8 Z06?
You can find more pictures in the article, just follow the link in Profile
# camaro2022 # 2022camaro # z28 # zl1 # zl11le #camaross #chevrolet # v8 # lt1 # 2ss # camaro6 #camaro

And here is the link from their site:

https://modernmusclecars.de/index.ph...otyp-gesichtet

And the translated text from the above link:

The 6th generation Camaro is actually already written off. Nobody expects that Chevrolet is still putting money into the current Camaro or even bringing out new models.

Now I have received exclusive pictures from the USA that completely change the subject! Because a user discovered a prototype of a Camaro that does not match previous models.

The rims and the large side skirts seem to come from the ZL1 1LE and the rear is also the well-known skirt from the facelift. But the car offers a new rear spoiler, which neither comes from the ZL1 nor the ZL1 1LE and looks like a hybrid of both variants.

For this purpose, the typical approach of the emission measuring devices (PEMS), which can be found on prototypes, is on the exhaust. Could the model be a new Z / 28, which is actually considered to be discontinued and which is plugging the 5.5l flatplane V8 from the upcoming C8 Z06 into the Camaro?

Please feel free to write in the comments what you suspect, what kind of Camaro it could be.

It would turn much better if it made comparable power naturally aspirated with all the weight savings out of the front. Removing the blower and related items would do wonders

I'd imagine a naturally aspirated ZLE; but not sure what direction they'd go with the engine. Still not really a defined spot in the line though.

That's not a new spoiler. Back in 2018, there were 2019 ZL1 1LE prototypes that had a lower wing spoiler than what is in production now.

Hopefully this is one of the shelved Camaro variants that has new life and not some prototype headed to the crusher.

See this thread.

Great knowledge! I've never seen that before. You're right -- looks to be the same wing.

Isn't that just the SS-E? OK, fair enough the LT2 is ~495/470, so if they fit that in there and found a good dual clutch system to fit etc... sounds like a awful lot of R&D for a company putting all of its eggs in the EV basket.

Seems they would be better off just upping the LT1 power and making the current SS-E better

ZLE & SSE suspension is a bit different since the ZLE doesn't use MRC, DSSV shocks/struts, etc. How much of a difference it'd make on the track I don't know, but it'd definitely need a power bump IMO.

I seem to recall a few months ago, that GM was committing itself to producing 6th gen Camaro's for racing sown under in some particular class.

If so, could this be a variation of the 6th gen they are looking at to fit that particular niche in racing down under ?
