Wouldn't it make More sense if the car was in production for 50 years before worrying about a 50th anniversary edition lol

It'll be a sixth.

And I plan on a 50th anniversary Z/28 don't let me down, GM!

I'd say 6th for sure, but I think when the 6th drops could depend on the mustang and how the 5th gen is holding up against it.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I am going to make a leap of faith, as Soren the Dutch philosopher once stated and say, that GM/Chevy will NOT change the Camaro until after the 50th.

If they do, they best do it for about 2015, as GM/Chevy hasn't had a great history with first year models..........can you see Car&Driver.......: GM hit a home run with its new version, Gen 6 Camaro, just in time for the 50th anniversary..........Too bad, once again GM hit a foul ball with reliability..................

Just saying.

Nearly every first year model has problems from every manufacturer. Look at Ford's track record with diesels... 03 6.0L diesel, 08 6.4L diesel, AND the 11 6.7L diesel... all had problems... then we have the 07 6.7L Cummins that had problems as well as the 07 LMM Duramax... and it doesn't stop there. Ford's 2v 5.4L gasser was a mess too. Luckily, our 5th gen Camaro's LS3 and 6L80E (and TR6060) are pretty much bulletproof.

If the 6th gen uses the new gen small blocks then we could have problems lol we'll find out in 2014. Which I'm pretty sure has been confirmed as a 2015 model.

The 2nd generation ran for 11 years but look at the differing body styles, there were 3. And the '81 looked totally different from the '70. So there could very well be a Gen 5 50th anniversary but it may not look anything like the current Gen 5's.

I still don't buy the 2015 sixth gen hype. GM hasn't stated when the next generation is coming and even if they did look how many times it's taken longer than they said it would. I think we will see the next gen V-8s and a fascia change for the 2014 model year. It will still be on the same platform but the change will be similar to the 97-98 Camaro. I don't have anything solid to base my assumptions but I feel it would be a good way to maintain interest and sales of the 5th gen while taking some extra time to make sure the 6th gen exceeds our expectations.

Whatever they do there best be a LS7 option. That's the only motive I currently have to buy another after taking inventory of my motives. Dreamer.

I'm pretty sure all the LS series engines will be going away with in the next 5 years. I'm wondering what the new DI engines will hold. Maybe 400 to 450 from a 5.0L to replace the LS3 and 500 to 550 from a 5.5L to replace the LS7.

I think it was on GM Inside News forum that it would be based on the Alpha platform (same platform as new Cadillac ATS) and 300-400 pounds lighter than the current car?
