I know the exact 1LE you're talking about in VA. Spoke to a salesperson at that dealership about it a few weeks ago.
If you're even considering buying a car out of state, figure everything out with the sales people before hand. Don't just go down there and start the process. Once you find the car, start talking with a salesperson and figure out all the numbers and incentives and tax rate and cross border registration etc beforehand. It takes a bit of effort because some sales people just won't take the time and effort to talk to someone far away because it has a high chance of going nowhere. You basically have to convince them you're serious without coming off as desperate. |

"This is the last order cycle for 2017. If dealer has available allocation - it will move forward. If allocation is not available - order will be cancelled. Call your dealer - ask about available allocation." So it is all about dealer allocation at this point. Now I have to decide whether to order a 2017 now, or wait another month or so and order a 2018.

They are stringing you along and not. Ordering for 2017 is closed that is true. No dealer can create a new order for a 2017 Camaro. It's not based on allocation. What a dealer can do though is change a current general inventory order that already has been placed to your desired specifications. Now what depends on allocation is if that order gets picked up by GM for the last ordering cycle. Dealers can change an order until it moves past 3000 status. If the order gets to 2000, GM accepted the order and will be produced. If this last ordering cycle passes and the order is still at 1100, you're out of luck for a 2017, but I believe the order will automatically be carried over to the 2018 order cycle( don't quote me on that one). Though GM accepting the changes to the order past 2000 status also hinges upon if the options you selected are not on constraint.

Or going away entirely for 2018. So if (for example) you hope for a Krypton Green 1LE, better say a few hail Mary's that it gets to 2000 before the week is up.
