Rev while in D

Not sure if this is an intended feature, but I was hoping I can get some insight about this from here. When I am driving and I have it in "D" mode, on sport/track, I take my foot off the gas, and basically give it a quick rev.( like 60% or so throttle and let go), around 1-2 seconds later, The car drops gear, and maximizes the rpm even tho I dont have my foot on the throttle anymore.
is that an Intended feature, or am I doing some harm to the car like this?

You entered performance shift mode. It’s built in and noted in the manual.

The computer decided to downshift in preparation for acceleration. I do this when I'm getting ready to punch past a slow driver. It's certainly not performance shift mode, though. That requires a solid second of pedal-to-the-floor.

It only says performance shift mode activated if you are in Tour mode. If you are in Sport or Track it assumes you already want performance and does not display the message. Anyhow, the described behavior is normal.

I still get the performance shift message when in sport or track.

Not sure about track but it does say it on the DIC in sport. I always drive in sport and I see the message all the time.

In Tour mode it should never go in to Performance Shift. That's only for Sport and Track. (At least it's that way for the 10 speed)

On the ZL1 I can blip my throttle in Tour mode all day long and it won't drop gears and rev. But in Sport or Track it does it every time.

I really like this feature. I will kick it down to activate performance shift mode just to be ready if I want to accelerate or just to hear the engine.

Could be right, I always drive in Sport but when I want to get a little spirited I flip it into Track and use the paddles. Maybe thats why I don't recall seeing it anywhere other than Tour.
