I wish someone made a ZL1 Style hood with just the insert being carbon and the rest fiberglass since most people are just going to paint the rest anyways. Im sure that would put the hood at a $1000 price point

My first hood arrived damaged. Had to sawzall the thing into pieces to get the replacement sent.

My AC hood review.

Looks, fit, and finish is awesome. Lots of gawkers for sure.

Downside: More engine compartment noise in the cabin than the stock hood. Can also see the sun coming through the front scoop. Its odd to see the front of your engine compartment from the driver's seat. The cowl is also completely open to the outside world (water intrusion, etc.).

Do you hear an air sucking sound with the quick throttle stabs?

Yup, specially on the high gears when the exhaust is not as loud

Thanks for the quick review you answered a few questions I had !... with no protection from outside elements I am going to hold out with how the cowl sits on the v6 I would be risking water getting to the coil packs and that is not a good recipe.. was hoping it had some sort of shroud to redirect water but from your explanation it does not.

I thought about wrapping, leaving the center carbon. It would have to be a clean cut and my worry is blade cutting into the hood.

If I am not mistaken, in those cases, they use a tape with a metal wire that cut the vinyl. I could be wrong. I need to ask a buddy of mine who owns a wrap company out in Vegas.
