Do you think Chevy will take part in the horsepower war?

With cars like the Challenger Hellcat with 707 hp and the Mustang Shelby GT with 627 hp, do you think/would you want Chevy to have a 600+ hp engine in the ZL1 or Z28?

chevy has the corvette z06 with 650hp. If your talking about a camaro, then I would say they have a high HP model vehicle in the scope. I agree, they need to introduce more higher HP vehicles. Including the daily drivers..

They tried that with the SS (sedan) and it didn't work out very well... At the same time, Ford said they're introducing 12 new performance cars by 2020 and I doubt Chevy will sit idly by and let them overtake that market.

Also, I think that there's a special rivalry with the 3 muscle cars. I don't think Chevy wants the Z06 to compete with them as much as they are aiming towards cars like the Porches and Ferraris.

The current GT500 is 662hp. The new one will surpass the Hellcat. GM is really going to have to step up.

The Camaro will probably get the LT4 making the same power and torque as the CTS-V.

I don't think chevy will. the LT1 and LT4 are what they will proabably run.

the hellcat is 707hp and 4500lbs.

All they have to do is take a version of the camaro with the LT4 and it will cover that.

now ford does not even produce a GT500 now and there next cars will be N/A 5.2 with 500-550hp. I really like the gt350 though it will not be a one trick pony it will work well everywhere I may buy one.

I can see them trying to compete though. the hellcat is running better et's than the 13-14 gt500 did. real similar trap speed though. be hard for them to come out with less than they did in 13-14 and what the hellcat is doing.

I am not a roll racer though I like driving a car fast on what ever road I am on and I prefer to have my car really composed at high speed so the hellcat to me is just a sweet car I will never look at twice.

Ford doesn't have a GT500 yet but I bet one is coming.

It is. And it will be a beast. The GT500 didnt have any competition till the Hellcat.

Would a Camaro with 650HP that is 600 lb lighter than a Hellcat beat a Hellcat? I think it would.

i doubt they'll try to outdo 700hp, but the Camaro will be much lighter. plus who knows how much longer the current dodge will be around?

If the 6th gen Z weighs 3900 lbs, it would need to make 620 hp to match the Hellcat power to weight ratio.
