Usually people screw up this saying and say "could". Props for getting it right. It's refreshing. Haha.

It used to be different in the old days of making clones, as you would get a wrecked ss and take the whole everything.... the wiring harness dash, console buckets, emblems, special trim if any, engine and transmission and add them to a v-6 or other wise stock v-8 car and make a clone. A salute to the ss as it was for all intensive purposes a ss yet not at all numbers matching for the car just the parts. My Last clone was a 73 chevelle ss, and I ran a 400 small block bored to a 406. It had 450+ hp: dart iron eagle heads, a performer rpm air gap intake, a holley 750, headers and hypereutectic pistons pumping 10.6 to one compression with a competition cam and HEI ignition all assembled by me and mated to a worked shift kitted Th350 trans with a 2500 stall. The trans lasted through one 406 and lost it about 50k into the 2nd 406. I never put 454 badging on it as it was a 400 and used 400 instead and was happy knowing it had more h.p. than a stock 73 454 ss engine big time as they were just way under powered and mostly a torque mover as was the 400 small block for mostly yeoman duty moving heavy cars with a big block torque coming way low in the power band.
I am happy now to have a ls3 which measures out to a nice 376 cubes. Many dirt track racers and such made 377 cube 400 small blocks by using 350 cranks in them and they were damn near indestructible and could rev to the moon unlike a 383 which is limited in its revs and a 377 was by far preferred..........Yet 400 blocks are were and will continue to be in high demand for hot rodders who know their stuff and want a awesome SBC car....Could it be GM learned from hotrodders making a 376 cube engine? Makes you wonder. How ever to take badging and have obviously no intention of ever swapping the entirety of the the correct performance and interior parts and such to make it the real deal is exactly what a poser is. It makes no matter to some people who need the ego boost, but to those of us who do own the real deal they are a disgrace waiting to happen and sully the rep of our Super Sports, and to be looked down apon in disgrace. The rule of thumb for me and others has always been if you cannot out perform the badging your wearing you do not deserve to wear it. And I always told everyone it was a clone. And yet it was until looking in the engine bay a exact exterior replica of a SS down to the larger sway bars, perfectly placed badging except for the 400 in stead of 454.......

Man you guys in General Discussion sure are a fussy finnicky bunch. God forbid someone put SS badges on the car they bought. Heavens no. Tell you what tho, if I saw some kid taking pictures of my car without my permission they'd better have a darn good explanation.

Reminds me of this guy I got behind a few months ago. Anything wrong with this picture? And I'm not actually that close to him. Zoom on camera makes it look like I'm a foot from him.

I don't see anything wrong with adding badges to your car, but don't misrepresent yourself. They're only fooling people who don't know any better. The real enthusiasts know, and while they may have had respect for the V6, they're not going to have any respect for a V6 posing as an SS. Putting an SS badge on a V6 is nearly sacrilege Be proud of what ya got.
